A red, black and gold sign hangs from steel rings above the door reading, “The Long Eagle Grille,” occasionally creaking in the wind. The chefs fire thick, western-cut steaks from local cattle, with hearty, buttery mashed potatoes and grilled local vegies. Catamaran sail boats are light weight, so they tip in strong winds. Harnessed to the side of the boat, your body will counter weight the boat’s tip from the wind increasing knots as you drag your fingers and touch the wake only an arm’s reach away. Sunglasses, check; tunes on the catamaran, check; stocked refrigerator, check; wind, check. The captain will be taking you to the Islands Watch. Dance among the bouncing crowd of people, and sip tasty drinks. Day 3, summer: Today, you’ll be hiking around the lake for a visit to Cascade Falls. Your guide achieves an expert hiker/climber title. Choose to climb up the rocky cliff-side of Cascade Waterfalls as your guide safely boles you up the face, or hike the path around the backside of the fall to the top of the cliff. Once you reach the top marvel at the mind blowing view. “On top of the world” may cross your mind as you behold the view of the entire lake and its surrounding mountains. Hiking farther, arrive at your next destination. Fisherman’s Outdoor Grille is a unique Tahoe experience where you fish for your lunch. Your target, small and large mouth bass, the expert cooks fire them perfectly, seasoning the fish with mountain spices served with grilled vegetables. A wild mountain lunch based on the principle of: if you don’t catch, you just enjoy beer and vegetables. Fisherman’s Outdoor Grille is located at a plentiful fishing location where you’re highly likely to catch something, so bring your appetite. On the scenic hike back your guide will stop at the Old World Train Station tucked into a beautiful green valley. Here, learn about early California settlement, railroads, and the gold rush, while marveling at settler train tracks that brought hundreds of settlers to the golden state for the promise of gold. This evening, your lodge shall entertain you. After pool and hot tub fun there are shuffleboard tournaments for all guests; couples team up playing a classic California favorite. Experience the intensity of friendly completion for first place. All the while, the lodge serves a full bar menu with free appetizers and plays classic rock tunes. Day 4, summer: Be ushered to the Snake Valley Helo-pad bright and early. Fly with the pilot and your guide to the top of Heavenly Mountain with mountain bikes on board. The trails on Heavenly Mt bring the intensity. The ride begins on Dead Man’s Ridge. Here, the views make heads spin; one side is a vast desert of tan and reddish color with bright green cacti spotted all over the great expanse and the other side is lush mountain terrain with green vegetation hanging under a gorgeous blue sky. Stand on the citadel awestruck by Tahoe’s beauty. After a hard ride, your guide will provide a packed sandwich lunch for you. Your plane ride will be waiting this evening. Day 1-3, winter: Six months later be prepared for a heart racing change of scenery. Tahoe averages thirty feet of snowfall per year. Locals complain when they go a week without a barrage of fresh, sweet powdered-snow. Stay at the Olympic Village Inn, an accommodating lodge where the Olympians stayed in the Winter Olympic of 1980. Olympic Village features eight different hot tubs and three heated pools. The Inn rests slope side and you receive an included three day pass to Squaw Valley. Ski or board, whichever you prefer. Rip down wide open Western trails, spray white Sierra snow. Jump cliffs of all sizes; hit the board park for some jumps of grind rails. Squaw Valley’s multiple peaks are jagged and rocky, shooting high above the tree line shrouded in clouds. See if in you can cover the whole mountain in three days, accept the challenge! Squaw’s terrain can satisfy the thirst for good skiing; beginners can stay to the middle of the mountain on the green trails while experts are encouraged to explore the mountain freely. There are high speed trails, terrain parks, cliffs, glades, bowls, and palisades. Squaw’s army of gondolas and lifts can take you all over the mountain. The Goose Gondola takes skiers to the top of KT22, named by the owners of the mountain and their first experience on KT22. According to the talehe wife made 22 kick turns her first time skiing from top to bottom and her husband thus named it, KT22. This peak is bold and steep, there. One famous feature of KT22, called the Devils Fingers, a five pointed rocky cliff in which only the most extre me exper ts jump to a forty foot drop, landi ng straight on steep slope. Just looking at it makes hearts pound like “The Raven.” You can also visit another favorite peak, Silverado. You must traverse across the mountain to ski this peak, though. You can see for yourself why so many visitor travel across the terrain just to get to this peak. Shaped like a half-mile, natural half pipe, Silverado demands high pace with high intensity. The other two skiable sides of this peak are rocky cliffs where you can carve your way down, avoiding protruding rocks and trees. A double chair lift at low elevations brings you back to the top on a very scenic chairlift ride. Check out the stunningly massive Siberia Bowl. This massive crater at the top of the highest peak in Squaw awes even the locals. The lift takes you half way up the bowl. Expert snow cruiser? Try a hike up the snowy backside of the Siberia Bowl. Your ascension will take you to the top, you face the entire Valley of Squaw, a detailed painting of the heavens and earth below. The steep drop at your ski tips nears the definition of a cliff, but snow clings to its steep ageless face. Only one way to go down, now, and that requires leaning your weight forward heart pounding. Speed straight to avoid falling, you can slow down once it flattens out. Slowing down on the slope can be dangerous because that is how skiers or riders fall. Ending your three day exploration of Squaw Valley, be shuttled back to Heavenly Mountain. Similar to the unforgettable view of desert in opposition of wild mountainside terrain, the view during winter steals breaths even more surprisingly than summer. The desert located in low elevation looks the same, but the winter wonderland that opposes it looks like a landscape in National Geographic Magazine. No other place like this in the country exists. Skiing Heavenly is scenic and laid back, less extreme than Squaw. Truly a great place to wind your vacation down, perhaps try Heavenly Mt cross country skiing or snow shoeing. Your plane ride back home waits this evening. We know we’ll be seeing you again! Learning outcomes: 1.c. My revision of my Itinerary reflects the rhetorical situation much than the first. My writing is a lot more appropriate because I maintained the correct style and rhetorical situation. 2.d. I used some strategies like avoiding the use of passive voice in my writing. I have received feedback on these mistakes and corrected them this time around. 3.a. After receiving consistent feedback on consistent mistakes I have made, I have learned to see and correct my previous mistakes. The Glades, mixed terrain featuring woods, rocks, cliffs, and dips thrills skiers on the other side of the mountain. These glades bear no resemblance to Eastern glades. Trees are sparser making Squaws glades not very dangerous. The Glades can be conquered many ways, think of riding through untouched forest, with no set path before you. You can spend an entire day in the glades, exploring Tahoe as you strategically carve your own path. 4.a. The project itself required writing that is simple and maintains a tense, voice, and style unique to itineraries. I used the correct style this time. 5.a. I can now recognize the style of itineraries. Before I tried to hard and got sub-par results. With the right mind frame and understanding of itineraries I was able to do the assignment the proper way.
