He dreamed of becoming a musketeer. After a visit to the Captain of the Musketeers, Mr. De Trevilâ, Dartan′ân was accepted into the company of the King's Guards. On his way from De Trevilâ, Dartan′ân met three Musketeers: Athos, Porthos and Aramis. With each of them he had a quarrel (action dance) and now he has to fight 3 duels. (Music: Curtain opens. at Dartan′ân and Athos.) DARTAN′ÂN: I'm at your service, Sir (Appear Porthos and ARAMIS). > > ATHOS: here are my seconds: Porthos and Aramis. > > PORTHOS: excuse me, Sir! But we have to fight a duel too! > > DARTAN′ÂN: but only in an hour, Sir! > > ARAMIS: and we have also agreed on a duel! > > DARTAN′ÂN: but only in 2 hours, Sir! > > ATHOS: well, then let's start! > > (Dartan′ân and Athos crossed swords. Cardinal Guardsmen Appear.) > > PORTHOS: Guards of The Cardinal! > > (All get swords.) > > ARAMIS: But there are four of them, and there are only three of us! > > DARTAN′ÂN: Dear Sirs! Try me! Curtain closes.) > > 2 SCENE. > > NARRATOR: so, Dartan′ân was now at the King’s service and the Musketeers became good friends. In addition, he met a nice girl named Constance, who was a confidant and a courtier of Queen Anne of Austria. And, now we will get into the Queen's apartments. Beckingham goes.) > > 3 SCENE. > > NARRATOR: and now we fast forward to the apartment of the cardinal. As we have learned from the first scene, Musketeers and the guards of the King were at war with the Cardinal's guards. The Cardinal, had a large number spies, among which was a great lady, whom everyone called "my lady" or Milady. And now the cardinal called her. Let us listen to what they are talking about. (Music: Curtain opens. the Cardinal and Milady on stage.) > > CARDINAL: Milady, I called for you in order to give some instructions. It is a very responsible and secret deal! > > MILADY: I am listening to you attentively, your grace. > > CARDINAL: I know how faithful and devoted you are, my lady, and I appreciate it. > > MILADY: Always happy to assist your eminence! > > CARDINAL: I appreciate it! Now listen! According to some evidence the Duke of Bekingham is in Paris. Queen Anne gave him two of the diamond pendants from her brooch as a sign of her love. And here's my secret order: go to England and get those pendants. > > MILADY: Well, your grace! I’ll do it. > > CARDINAL: Try My Lady! I have no doubt that you will succeed! Here's your money. > > (Music. Curtain closes.) > > 4 SCENE. > > NARRATOR: and now we transport ourselves into the Queen Anne room. > > (Music: Queen Anne is sitting, her hands cover her face. Constance enters.) > > CONSTANCE: Your Majesty? > > QUEEN: Dear Constance, I have got into trouble! > > CONSTANCE: what has happened? Can't I do anything to help? > > QUEEN: (shaking his head) The spies of Cardinal are everywhere! I do not have anyone to trust? > > CONSTANCE: You can believe me and trust me, Your Majesty! I am ready to die for your Majesty! > > QUEEN: Yes, I know it! Constance! The King is organizing the ball! He said I should wear а Diamond brooch with 12 pendants, and, as you know, I had given 2 of the pendants to Beckingham. What shall I do? > > CONSTANCE: it is necessary to send a Messenger to the Duke of Beckingham and get the brooch back! > > QUEEN: he will fail! The ball will be in a few days! And where can I find such a Messenger? The spies of Cardinal are everywhere! > > CONSTANCE: I will try to help you, your Majesty! I have a friend Dartan′ân. He is a Royal Guard, and he has friends musketeers. They can be trusted! But you have to write a few words to the Duke of Beckingham, so he will learn, that this Messenger is from you! > > QUEEN: and if he falls into the hands of cardinal? > > CONSTANCE: have no fear, your Majesty! Curtain closes.) > > SCENE 6 > > STORYTELLER: Dartan′ân together with the Musketeers went on a journey. On the way to London they were stopped by the guards of the Сardinal. > > (Music: Curtain opens. at Dartan′ân, Musketeers and the Cardinal's guards.) > > ATHOS: "one for all. ..." > > DARTAN′ÂN, PORTHOS, ARAMIS, and all for one! > > (Dartan′ân and Musketeers fight the guards of Cardinal. The battle occurs with music.) > > ATHOS: Dartan′ân! Go. We’ll stop them. > > (Dartan′ân goes away. the rest continue to fight the battle music. Curtain closes.) > > SCENE 7. > > NARRATOR: In a few days the ball begins. > > (The curtain opens. Music. Palace. However, the Royal Dartan′ân managed to escape! But, I think that as he is alone, he can do nothing! Too little time! > > (King enters) > > CARDINAL: well, your Majesty, is the Queen wearing a brooch with 12 Diamond pendants? > > KING: I told her to put it on! She won’t disobey. (Dartan’an, Constance, Musketeers come on stage. They pass the brooch from hand to hand and finally give it to the Queen) > > CONSTANCE: My Queen, here is your brooch. You have dropped in when entering the ballroom. > > QUEEN: Thank you > > KING (to the Cardinal): Here it is! She loves me! > > CARDINAL (bows to the king and the queen): I have lost!
