Café will be kicking off its new
season September 14th! This year
the café is looking for volunteers to
help out in the kitchen cooking. We
will be putting together teams who
would be willing to come in once a
month to help cook. If you have
questions, would like to volunteer
or just need more information
contact Melissa at
cafe@saintjameswarrenton.org
We are adjusting our youth
confirmation process. In order for
confirmation to serve as a mature
claiming of one’s baptism, we are
raising the norm to 8th or 9th grade.
We also will spend the first 30
minutes of every middle school youth
meeting in confirmation preparation
(middle school youth who are not
seeking confirmation would arrive 30
minutes into the meeting for dinner
and activity). Those eighth grade and
older who are interested in
confirmation but unable to
participate in youth group may join
the adult confirmation preparation.
Trip to Haiti: From August 1 - August 6, Lori Working is going on
a mission trip to Haiti the first of August. The mission is a continuation of the
mission which Region XIII began in 2011. We ask for your prayers for Lori and
a safe and propitious mission.
A letter from Chris Miller
Dear Saint James,
Thank you for such a wonderful summer in Warrenton. The summer
was filled with many opportunities for my own personal growth as I continue
on the path towards ordination. Two characteristics of Saint James’ stand out
to me as worth noting in this brief letter. First, you are a people who are truly
devoted to a life in Christ - even and especially if that life in Christ involves
asking difficult questions about what our faith means in this world. You are a
people who are truly devoted to a life in Christ in the many ways that you
engage at Saint James’ and in the Fauquier County community. You are the
ministers of this church for the world. Second, you have a tremendous group
of leaders. I spent more time with Father Ben than anyone else this summer.
His compassion, thoughtfulness, prudence, and vision have and will continue to
guide Saint James’ towards an ever-increasing faith in the new life given to us
by Jesus Christ. Father Ben’s priesthood is an important example for me. The
many lay leaders in the congregation also strike me as incredibly devoted
individuals who offer what they have for the betterment of the church.
Furthermore, Saint James’ Episcopal School is a special gift to this community.
I wish that I was able to be here during the school year to see everything in
action, but I will have to drop by sometime once classes begin. Blessings to
each of you on all that you do. Saint James’ is a very special place, and I will
hold you all close to my heart in prayer as I return to Virginia Theological
Seminary. Again, thanks for all that you did for me this summer.
Faithfully, Christopher H. Miller
Softball - Due to a lack of players
and ongoing field repairs at the
Taylor Middle School softball field,
we have chosen to cancel out the
remainder of the softball
practices/games for this summer.
We thank those who were able to
attend earlier this summer and hope
to play again next summer.
FACES 2014 CAMPAIGN- PHASE TWO:
Ensuring an accurate directory
Next time you are at church, please review and initial your entry in a draft of
the directory which is posted in the front hall. Our deadline is Aug. 11. On a
nearby table are "Correction Forms" which you can use to edit or add
information. Note on photographs: 1) It's not too late to submit one! 2) Some
of the photos which we scanned are not very clear. We are asking people to
submit an electronic version or have their photo taken at church.

Calling all interested in learning more about the
Episcopal Church or becoming an Episcopalian!
Anticipating Bishop Susan Goff’s pastoral visit on October 26th,
we will begin classes in September for all those seeking
confirmation, reception, or adult baptism. These classes are also
for any desiring to know more about the Episcopal Church,
whether or not you are committed to joining formally. The
classes are also a great opportunity for parish members to brush
up on their Episcopal knowledge and support those in the
process. Please let Fr. Ben, rector@saintjameswarrenton.org, or
Nancy, admin@saintjameswarrenton.org, know of your interest
or further questions.
We are looking to hold classes on Wednesday evenings following
our midweek services, but will adapt based on need of the group.
