Word Count: 712 Ending Abortion’s Life Looking back 100 years when abortion was legal is appalling and hard to believe. Taking a human’s life before that life has even really begun is unjust and now, illegal. However, it has not always been that way. Ending about twenty years ago, abortion was completely legal at almost any stage in the pregnancy. If it was healthy for the mother, they could abort the child at 20 weeks to term. Society allowed this because they did not consider the fetus ‘human’ yet so it did not feel like a murder. Scientists have studied the topic of abortion for a long time now and have come to realize the fetus is human, four days after conceiving. Now if that is not murder, I do not know what is. Murder can send criminals to jail for either a life sentence or a death sentence. Mother’s and doctor’s murdered innocent fetuses and got praise from families and friends for doing what they believed to be ‘the right thing’. Millions of abortions happen every year for pregnancies that were not meant to happen but that does not make it fair. Since the fetus is considered human after four days after the egg is fertilized, that means everything past the morning after pill is considered murder. The ethical violation of murder is considered the worst crime under every law, religion, and constitution in the world. No place allows murder and there is no difference between the killing of a growing baby and a living human. Sometimes I will think back to my own life. My mother got pregnant with me when abortion was legal and that could have been the path that she chose. Knowing how easy it is to end a life before it has even started hurts my heart. The fetus has no say in what is happening to them inside the body of the mother. It is everyone else’s opinions on what happens to the fetus with no regards to the baby growing inside. The babies that have been aborted all over the world could have amounted to something huge, could have changed the world but instead, they were shot with a needle and laid to rest before they could even take their first breath and that is unjust. I would never allow myself to do something so horrific to something so helpless because to me, that is murder in the highest of degrees. Although abortion is terrible to consider, it is not too difficult to see the other side of things. One hundred years ago when abortion was legal, they did not consider the fetus ‘human’ until about the fourth month of pregnancy. Seeing that the fetus was not human made it easier to terminate inside the mother. The facts have changed now which tilt the scale to making abortion illegal. Also, some may say that the pregnancy came from a rape or the mother is not ready to have a baby. Although pregnancy is a rough nine months for the mother, there is no law saying she must keep the baby. Adoption is a beautiful thing, giving parent’s that are incapable of having children a second chance. Therefore, the mother does not have to be ready, she just has to be willing to go through those nine months to give a human a life. Abortion was legal until about twenty years ago and it is not hard to see why, but it is hard to see how someone could be willing to do that to a baby human. Now that abortion is illegal, teenagers are more careful as to get pregnant. More teenagers and even young adults use methods such as birth control to regulate pregnancy. The comparison to birth control and abortion is simple; birth control ensures that the egg is never fertilized and the baby never begins to grow but abortion is the terminating of a baby that has already grown to be considered a real human. The conservation of human’s lives is very important to the ethical society of the world and does not want to be trifled with. Abortion is a horrible process when people should just step up and take care of what they started, without taking a life at the same time.
