READ
READ Collection 2013-14
 Submission opens April 1, 2014 and closes July 1, 2014
 Data Elements, FAQ documents and the recorded webinar
from March 4, 2013 are posted on the READ website under
pipeline. Here is the link to that page:
http://www.cde.state.co.us/coloradoliteracy/readdatapipeline
 Please make sure you have a READ respondent assigned to
this collection. We will be sending out updates, future
trainings, and information through our list serve for READ
respondents in pipeline.
51
Cohort Data
 This year will be the first year for the cohort in the READ
collection.
 The cohort will be comprised of current 4th grade students
who were identified as having a significant reading deficiency
last spring as 3rd grade students. Next year, the cohort will
contain 4th and 5th grade students, and so on.
 We are currently working on a way to easily identify those
students in your cohort and will share that information next
week.
52
How Do I report a 4 th grader in the
cohort this year?
Reporting for 4th grade students in the cohort will follow this pattern:
 READ status will be a 1 or 2
 Read status of 1 indicates they have demonstrated grade level proficiency
through a body of evidence (determined locally)
 Read status of 2 indicates they have not demonstrated grade level proficiency
through a body of evidence (determined locally)
 READ test – 00
 READ score 9999
 READ accommodation 0
 Testing date (cannot be zero filled), use the date that you are using for the other
students
 Retention questions will be “2” (Not Applicable)
 READ plan support fields will be “0” (No-because these fields only apply to K-3)
53
CONTACT Information
 Dian Prestwich – 303-866-6150 – prestwich_d@cde.state.co.us

ASSESSMENT LABELS
Issues with TCAP Labels
• TCAP labels include current students and
former students.
 Labels for former students should not be used and should be returned
to CTB with the non-scorable materials.
• “Date Most Recently Enrolled in U.S.” data is
not included on the roster report or on the
pre-ID labels.
 For students with pre-ID labels, this data will be in the SBD file.
 For students without pre-ID labels, all data fields on the back of the test
booklets should be completed.
