BEARDSLEE CASTLE WINES
2014 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence
Buy Local :: Buy American
OUR LIST features primarily American producers
and American owned imports.
Be your own stimulus plan and buy a bottle of delicious American wine!
A NOTE ON WINE NOTES
Our list features tasting notes to help you select a wine. We hope that they are helpful
HOWEVER…
everyone’s palate is different and of course wine evolves in the bottle over time.
Bottle notes and winemaker notes tend to be over-the-top in praise.
Some reviews are worthy of awards for their flowing prose and esoteric references.
Don’t take it all too seriously. Sometimes the best review is purely hedonistic… ie “we love it”!
As always, we suggest drinking what you like.
We include ratings when we can from The Wine Spectator, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate,
Wine Enthusiast or Stephen Tanzer.
Generally a wine that rates above 85 is ‘very good’, well made & representative of the style.
Ratings over 90 indicate truly special bottles.
In some cases we beg, grovel & plead for a few bottles of a particular selection from our distributors
 Please take advantage of these special finds.
NOT SURE?
Our servers will be happy to recommend a few selections based on your likes and your dinner
selections, please make use of their experience.
We have a quick-list of 30 selections at or under $30
and a dozen or more wines by-the-glass.
DECANTING
Some of our older red selections have natural sediment.
Please be patient and we will decant the wine for your full enjoyment.
Some (particularly unfiltered) whites have natural tartaric acid crystals.
They are heavier than the wine and will collect at the bottom of the bottle.
They are basically tasteless, are not indicative of any flaw.
Some younger wines that are ‘big, muscular, tough, tannic’ styles may benefit from
decanting as it promotes aeration and softens the wine.
Your server may recommend decanting or feel free to ask that we decant.
BON APPETIT ! ENJOY !
