Instructions for Rock Cycle Wrap Up Poster:
1.
On the large poster you have been given, you will create a large-scale, detailed poster of the rock cycle.
2.
The rock cycle diagram above is to be used as a REFERENCE to help you remember the basics of the rock cycle, NOT TO BE USED TO
COPY by itself onto your poster—it does not contain enough information.
3.
This project can be done in pairs, but no more than two people in a group.
4.
You will use the COWs on the first day review the details of each step of the rock cycle from the interactive rock cycle diagram webpage you have already seen in your webquest.
5.
You will spend part of the first day just making a sketch of your rock cycle by going through each step of the interactive rock cycle on the internet and writing down each piece of information that you see. You should have details (NOTES AND DRAWINGS) of the following: a.
Melting b.
Cooling c.
Weathering and Erosion d.
Heat and Pressure e.
Compacting and Cementing f.
Names and sketches of at least three kinds of each igneous (ex. obsidian), metamorphic (ex. gneiss), and sedimentary rocks (ex. sandstone) g.
Have the names of each main step of the rock cycle (see diagram on previous page) and all the correct arrows between them.
6.
Once you have gone through the entire rock cycle and taken notes from it, then you will be ready to start creating your poster. a.
You must use COLOR, be NEAT, and, again, include DETAIL.
7.
The grade you earn on this poster will be your FINAL MIDTERM GRADE and will be due next Wednesday, January 26 th .
8.
It will be worth 100 points.
