Patricia Neuman, DO, has been named Medical Director. In her new role, Dr. Neuman is responsible for the review and certification of patient referrals to hospice, the oversight of patients’ medical care and treatment plans and serving as a resource to community physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding the benefits of hospice and palliative care. Originally from Southfield, Mich., Dr. Neuman graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. She completed a one-year internship at Providence Hospital: Southfield, Mich., followed by a three-year residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. After her mother died of cancer without the help of hospice, she became a volunteer for and advocate of hospice. Dr. Neuman is now board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Prior to joining Unity as Assistant Medical Director in 2011, she worked with a local health care system in pain and non-surgical spine care and assisted with covering a local hospital’s physical rehabilitation unit. Unity's Interim Medical Director, James McGovern, MD, will continue in a support role as a Medical Advisor. Unity welcomes Ronald Manning, MD as Assistant Medical Director. Dr. Manning will consult with our patients’ attending physicians and assist with medical care and treatment in whatever setting our patients call home: Unity’s 12 bed hospice residence, private home, long-term care facility or hospital. Dr. Manning received a medical degree from the University of Colorado in Denver and completed an internship in Internal Medicine followed by a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Katie Bischoff, WHNP-BC, joins Unity as their Senior Director of Clinical Services. In her role, Bischoff oversees Unity's clinical team of physicians, nurse practitioners and advanced practice nurses. Her leadership philosophy focuses on building relationships that serve as the foundation for staff engagement, program development and community partnerships. Bischoff has served in various nursing and leadership positions for over 30 years, ranging from inpatient mental health to Medical Services Director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Inc., Executive Director for Hemophilia Outreach Center in Green Bay and Director of Nursing for Rennes Health in De Pere. “We are extremely pleased to have Dr. Neuman, Dr. Manning and Katie Bischoff as part of our talented clinical team,” said Alisa Gerke, Executive Director. “Through their leadership, we hope to educate more health care professionals on the value of hospice and palliative care, both in terms of high quality and cost savings.” About Unity Unity’s mission is to honor life by providing comfort, care and compassion to patients and families.
