Argumentative Essay
Why Obamacare is a Bad Idea
Before Obamacare was passed, a lot of controversy was huddled around if the law
should be passed. People have been wondering if it would bring healthcare businesses
down by raising their premiums or help them by giving them funding. They additionally
worried about if they were genuinely going to acquire a more “affordable” healthcare
plan, or if they would actually be paying more for people who do not work for their
money. A large part of the nation could agree that the law should not have been passed.
Obamacare is a bad idea and will bring America down because of the high cost, the loss
of jobs, and lastly for being unconstitutional.
One important aspect that Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act,
needs to cover is making sure to have a secure way of covering generations after the
current generation. It is consequential that future generations have some type of
Medicare Security without have to break the bank. An intriguing thing is to visually
perceive one’s opinions on major changes in our society, especially when deciding if one
is going to be covered with healthcare. With these changes, one would have to think of
the difficulty of being able to get such a thing. It is true that the Affordable Care Act will
be difficult due to the time consumption it takes, the cost for individuals and businesses,
and all the stress it will place on many people who are already on the verge of collapsing.
Many could concur that it is wrong to force a bill that will mandate and tax individuals
who might have not been able to afford it to begin with. This verbalization also points

out another imperfection in the act because it will be much more expensive for some. The
Manhattan Institute conducted a comprehensive analysis experiment of the premiums
under Obamacare for those who have already, or will shop, for coverage on their own.
Upon analyzing the results from an average person in an average state, they have learned
that Obamacare would increment underlying premiums by 41 percent (Roy Web). For the
average families that are below the poverty line, this amount is greatly increased from the
original amount. The Affordable Care Act states that this will cause individuals to pay for
not only their own health care, but for other peoples too, which would explain for the
raise in taxes. The people who agree upon Obamacare verbally express that it will not
raise the rates, but lower them (“Reduced” Web). This is false because there have been
several reports of people paying large amounts of money for their new rates. This radiates
from the people who are able to keep their indemnification plan without losing their old
one. President Obama has lied to the American public by promising people that they can
keep their healthcare plan if they like their healthcare plan, which was far from the truth
(“The Affordable” Web).
People the age of sixty-five and under, about one hundred and forty-nine million
Americans, additionally acquire their health indemnification through their own
employers. These Americans will be the next group to feel the burnt end of the
Affordable Care Act. With the opening enrollment for 2014, thousands of companies and
many employers are already preparing for Obamacare, at least in part for cost increases
of their premiums. Employees' costs are expected to elevate 5 to 7 percent next year,
according to early estimates, but this is false (“Got” Web). Those annual increases have
been a fixture for years. The truth is that the amount of job loses, especially in healthcare,

is dramatically increasing because the companies that employ these people cannot keep
up with the high premiums that they are paying for the workers insurance. The affect
from this is that they have to lay them off so that the company will not go under. In a
2014 open enrollment document, reviewed by CNBC, it is stated that companies are
concretely citing the law as a factor in next year's pricing (“Why” Web). Additionally, it
will make employers cut back employee hours to part-time status. Corporations will also
freeze raises and lower hourly wages of incipient employees, paid interns, or new
workers. Corporations are getting fed up with it and something has to give.
With a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court chose a “new and affordable” healthcare
system that will benefit and lower everyone’s cost. The ruling now made it so that the
government can force Americans to buy healthcare. It is not just your average insurance
that one would normally buy, or has been with for years, but a third paper insurance
covering procedures dictated by the federal government. “The Affordable Care Act
established a new labyrinth of red tape and bureaucracy, colossal even by Washington
standards, and most importantly-penalize the uninsured through the Individual Mandate”
(“More” Web). Some could say that this is going against the constitutional rights
because it feels like it is. It is estimated that approximately twenty million Americans will
lose their private insurance and eight hundred thousand jobs will end because of it
(“Cato” Web). In addition to all this, sixteen thousand jobs and seventy million dollars
worth of bonuses are given to the IRS to enforce the bill. Out of the sixteen thousand
jobs, many of the people who are handling others’ personal information are
inexperienced workers who have some kind of record. This especially goes for the
“Obamacare navigators” (“Felons” Web). The reports are that these people are here to
Barniak 4
insure you get the right coverage, but there is talk of that not being the case. Some are
talking about a Law, that has a website, that can be accessed because of errors. They
wonder if this is a suspicious thing that might actually be a trap to get personal
information (“Healthcare.gov” Web). All things considered, people ask if is it is going
against the constitution or not.
Whether or not one is on the same page as this paper, something fishy is going on
and facts are leading to companies breaking down, premiums going up, and jobs are
being lost. The Affordable Care act is a failure and should be thrown out for something
new. A law should never go against the constitution especially if it is concerning that of
healthcare.
