It is in European continent. It is in south
central region of Europe. It is in North and
eastern hemisphere.

• Physical Characteristics
Italy is shaped as a peninsula. It goes out into the Mediterranean
and Tyrrhenian sea. Italy covers 301,338 km 2 in area. It has
temperate seasonal climate. Italy is situated at meeting point
of Eurasian and African plates. It has a coastline of 3000 km.
• Human Characteristics
Their main language is Italian. Family is very important for
Italians. Visiting friends and relatives is very popular. They eat
pizza, spaghetti and vegetables such as tomatoes, egg plants,
onions, peas, pepper etc. The religion in Italy is Roman
Catholicism. It is the largest religion in Italy. Italy has very
broad and diverse architectural culture e.g. colosseum, milan
cathedral, leaning tower of Pisa.

Interaction
Woods, grasslands, mountains and glaciers are all within 70,000
hectares of land. The name of this national park is: Pareo
Nazionale gran paradisio, the first national park to be
established in Italy. Each season offers a different activity, for
example: hiking in summer, skiing in winter, for instance. Air
pollution from industrial emissions such as sulfur dioxide:
costal and in land rivers polluted from industrial effluents:
acid rain damaging lakes: inadequate industrial waste
treatment and disposal facilities. The Italy was the 5th top
most tourist destinations in the world. But from 2005 the
tourism is decreasing. It has 5000 million US Dollars a year.

Land: Italy lies in southern Europe on the
Mediterranean sea. The alp’s form Italy’s
northwestern border. The Apennies (a
mountain chain) occupy the center of Italy’s
peninsula.
Climate: Central and southern Italy have hot
summers.
