DEFINITIONS:
1. Continent- a major land area on Earth
2. Ocean- a vast body of saltwater that
covers nearly ¾ of the Earth’s surface
3. Hemisphere- ½ of the globe which can
be divided north and south at the
Equator, or east and west at the Prime
Meridian
4. Equator- Imaginary line of latitude which
divides the world in half north and south
DEFINITIONS:
5. Prime Meridian- Imaginary line of
longitude that divides the world in half
east and west.
6. International Dateline- An imaginary
line of longitude at 180°which states
the regions to the east are one day
earlier in calendar date than the west.
7. North- a cardinal point on the
compass; lying on a meridian and to the
left of a person facing the rising sun.

opposite north.

10.West- a cardinal point on the
