RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Graduate Research Assistant Fall 2004 – Fall 2005 University of Nebraska at Omaha Omaha, NE Research Topic: Domestic Violence Information Sharing System Research Advisor: Dr. Amy Anderson Research Activities: This research project was funded through various grants collected by the DVCC (Domestic Violence Coordinating Council) in the Omaha-metro area. The research activities performed for this project included creating a risk assessment tool for domestic violence offenders and victims. The risk assessment tool was created through a detailed examination of current violence assessment instruments and was tested for validity by a detailed analysis of past domestic violence cases. The analysis portion of the project included collecting data from 600 randomly selected files from the local county attorney’s office and evaluating the risk of recidivism over a five year period. Current progress on the research project includes weighting the significance of certain risk factors within the instrument and modifying the available data within the domestic violence information sharing system to fit the risk assessment tool. Project Manager Spring - Summer 2004 University of Nebraska at Omaha Omaha, NE Research Topic: Strategic Planning within Law Enforcement Agencies Project Director: Dr. Solomon Zhao Research Activities: This project was funded through a grant from the COPS (Community Oriented Police Services) office.
