This three day program is designed to give participants basic instruction in MS Word and Excel as well as career exploration resources. We will also be focusing on developing soft skills that employers so highly desire. Upon completion of this introductory training, participants will have the opportunity to receive additional IT Certifications through one of several local training providers. The City of Minneapolis IT Department is coordinating the Fix-It Tech events with community partners in response to the Minneapolis Community Technology survey results and our experiences working with residents on their technology needs. The 2014 survey results show that residents overall are not very comfortable troubleshooting computer problems, installing software or backing up files, or protecting themselves online. The event also promotes free digital literacy training resources, low cost computer and Internet options, local IT education programs, and IT careers.
