Summer Reading List 2015 - Dixie Elementary School

Research published in April by the University of Rochester in New York suggests that allowing
students to choose their reading material over the summer may help improve reading skills and
prevent “summer slide.” Here are some of our recent favorites.
We hope you have a wonderful summer exploring the world of books.

Almost 10 years before Brown vs. Board of Education, Sylvia Mendez and her parents helped end school segregation in

filing a lawsuit in federal district court. Their success eventually brought an end to the era of segregated education in
