"Child"

Confident and vulnerable
Loyal and an emotional rollercoaster
Awe-inspired and frustrated
Child.
Confident and vulnerable:
Like a tiger ready to go hunting,
With it's giant "ROAR" so I stand
And act.
With the imagination involved like a child
But also the attitude of one
When they know that they
Are the tiger, not just acting like one.
So I am.
Makeup is a never, myself is an always
Head up, shoulders back, back straight
A smile and witty words
Always voicing my mind.
Yet also, so fragile.
Like a child's heartbreak when a person says
"You aren't a tiger! You aren't my friend anymore".
The wide-eyed look, the sound of a million pieces
Of my heart crashing to the floor
When I get upset.
Like a child when scolded or belittled.
Confident and vulnerable.
Loyal and an emotional rollercoaster:
Perhaps not a child in loyalty, but rather a young pup.
Loyal to everyone it meets, especially its master.
Or rather a child that clings to its mother
At all given times
And treats Mommy with such respect,
I treat my friends.
Ends of the earth and back, no problem
For those who I trust and trust me.
Going up, suspense building, trust increasing,
And then the lurch downward.
The butterflies in the stomach as the ride
Steeply goes
Down
Down
Down.
Hurt, anger, betrayal,
Like a child when cranky.
Then back up, up, up
Look! The kid's feeling all better!
Love, trust, happiness.
Loyal and an emotional rollercoaster.
Awe-inspired and frustrated:
"The world is an adventure!" she proclaims, ready
With her magic wand and her cape to go in all the
Nooks and crannies.
I like to agree with that proclamation.
The world- nature, people, cultures
All provoke a sense of a child saying "wooooow"
For a good while.
An obstacle? More like another step in the great journey
Of the hero
In my opinion.
And then the flush of emotion, like a tantrum:
What am I going to do with the rest of my life?!
Where am I going to go, what am I going to do,
Why don't people give me the same respect
That I ALWAYS GIVE THEM?
WHY?
WHAT IS MY ROUTE TO SUCCESS?
Just like:
WHERE IS MY TOY?
WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY TOY?
WHY DID YOU TAKE IT?
And then the calmness after a good nap:
I'll be okay because I'm me.
Oh look, my toy was right here. Sorry.
Children:
"They bring the best and the worst out of you"
Indeed.
Child.
