Several methods to prepare YAG:Ce powder, such
as:
Co-precipitation method
Sol-gel method
Solid-state method
Solvothermal method
It is necessary that the preparation of YAG:Ce
powers by above methods were carries out under
high temperature or long holding time.

To obtain pure and small YAG:Ce phosphors,
traditional solid-state reaction method was necessary
to synthesize these powers by high temperature
treatment (>1600 °C) for unless 5hr under the flux,
such as B2O3, NaF2 and extensive ball milling.
With increase of temperature, YAG was formed
gradually and two transition phases, YAP(YAlO3) and
YAM (YAl4O9) were reduced.

In our study, we uesd a facile, novel solid-state
reaction method to synthesizeYAG:Ce powder under
low temperature for short hoding time.
Our study proved that the method was easy and fast
to synthesize pure YAG:Ce power .

This study successfully synthesis of pure YAG:Ce
phosphors at low temperature and short time by novel
solid-state reaction method.
The XRD results show that YAG:Ce powders under
pH=0.1 and 1000℃ for 30 min was pure YAG phase.
17
The SEM images show that the particles size of
YAG:Ce powers was uniform (about 100 nm) and
aggregates was observed.
From PL spectrum. YAG:Ce prepared under pH=0.1
and 1000℃ for 60 min showed better intensity of
Emission than others.
18
The properties of YAG:Ce powders synthesized at
different calcined temperature will be investigated and
characterized by SEM, XRD and PL.
