Reading and Journaling Schedule
Due Sept. 4:

Biography of Arthur Miller and McCarthyism article (handouts) Read and
annotate each. Review website listed on the bottom of this handout.
Compose one journal entry that discusses at least three intriguing items
that you read about on the web site. Do not simply summarize. You must
react to the items.

Acts I and II (including Act II, sc. 2 located after Act IV) plus one journal
entry and unknown vocabulary listed and defined; a minimum of five
words is required. Fully define each word; avoid using a synonym as a
definition. Include the page number where the word appears in the text.
Due Sept. 15:

Act III due up to page 100
Due Sept. 16: A ONE PAGE journal entry PLUS a minimum of five vocabulary
words defined for Act III
Due Sept. 21: Act IV and a ONE PAGE journal entry PLUS a minimum of five
vocabulary words defined
Due Sept 22: Four Socratic Seminar questions; refer to handout
Due Sept. 25: The Crucible in-class timed essay. Report directly to the library.
Due Sept 28: The Crucible vocabulary test. A list will be provided to you in
advance. Define each word and be certain to understand how that word is
used in the text.
