[Indian Jones and the Crystal Skull -DVD]. I actually really enjoyed the movie though it was not as good as I was
hoping for. They seem to have just followed the old formula. I have to say there were three things in the movie I
thought really did suck and those were the Gophers, the Monkeys and the refrigerator. If I want to see that sort of
crap I rent a Disney movie (well perhaps not for the refrigerator which was just plain ridiculous).
[Iron Man - DVD]. Wow this was actually a really good comic book movie. I enjoyed the X-Men Movies, Hellboy
and the first two Spiderman movies but generally comic book translations are poorly executed. This movie had
amazing special effects, good adult story and it didn't camp things up.
[Hellboy – Bluray]. I bought one of my favorite Movies on bluray. Wow it is stunning in full 1080p. I hope Hellboy 2
is as good.
[The incredible Hulk – bluray]- Another fantastic comic book movie. Wow
[Pushing Daisies Series 1 – episode 4 - "Pigeon" - DVD]. A plane crash into an apartment building leaves the trio
with a case—did the pilot commit suicide?—while Chuck finds herself drawn to the man who appears to be the
sole survivor (Dash Mihok), much to Ned's distress. Meanwhile, Olive takes a wounded messenger pigeon to the
aunts for help.
[Pushing Daisies Series 1 - episode 5 "Girth" - DVD] - In this Halloween episode, Emerson and Olive track down
"the ghost" who's been killing the jockeys at the old race arena where Olive used to race as a former jockey
herself. With help from Ned and Chuck, they try to solve the big mystery.
[The Mighty Boosh – The Hitcher]. Rewatched my favorite Boosh Episode for the umpteenth time. Great stuff. The
hitcher is my favorite Boosh Character too.
Week Ending: 22nd November 2008
[Pushing Daisies Series 1 – episode 6 "Bitches" - DVD ]. - When a deceased man tells Ned that his wife killed him
after giving him a cup of coffee, he fails to mention that he is a polygamist, making the case harder than it sounds,
with matters only becoming more complicated when Emerson falls for the prime suspect (Christine Adams) and
Ned is left contemplating starting a physical relationship with Olive to complement the emotional one he has with
Chuck. We bought this DVD after finishing [Dead Like Me] in the hope it would be similarly strange. It is turning
out to be a pretty good series but not as good as [Dead Like Me] . The narration and the 50's B movie inspired sets
are the best bit for me.
[Hellboy 2 – bluray]- A huge disappointment. They went down that dreaded comic book path and camped the
whole thing up. Special effects were amazing and the monsters were very well done but the dialogue was not up
to snuff :-(
[Sherlock Homes – Ronald Howard 20 episodes Collection - DVD] - The acting and story lines are so bad they are
funny. It has such a strange charm that makes them fun to watch. Episodes Watched - Sherlock Holmes: The Case
4|P a g e
of the Texas Cowgirl, Sherlock Holmes: The Case Of The laughing Mummy. Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the
reluctant carpenter
Week Ending: 29th November 2008
[The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford- bluray]. A very long and slow paced movie.
Although the subject matter was interesting I think the movie could have been a lot shorter. It's a bit like a History
Channel documentary. Not an easy watch but some good character acting.
[Sherlock Homes – Ronald Howard 20 episodes Collection -DVD] - The acting and story lines are so bad they are
funny. It has such a strange charm that makes them fun to watch. Episodes Watched - Sherlock Holmes: The Case
of the shoeless Engineer, The Case of the singing violin, The case of the Royal Murder, The case of the shy
ballerina.
[Pushing Daisies Series 1 – episode 7,8 & 9 - DVD]. We bought this DVD after finishing [Dead Like Me] in the hope
it would be similarly strange. It turned out to be a very enjoyable season but not quite as good as [Dead Like Me].
The plots, sets and stories kept up with the strange factor right up until the end. I can't wait for season 2 to be
released on DVD. It's just a pity they have been cancelled before season 2 was finished. Perhaps it was just a little
too odd for the masses.
Week Ending: 6th December 2009
[Golden Compass -Bluray] – Although this movie got terrible reviews I really enjoyed it. I thought the story was
very good and the special effects were excellent without being over the top. There is something special about hitec in a Victorian setting. To cap it all off the baddies were called Samoyeds which was a definite bonus. Hope they
make the other two books.
[Corraline - Bluray] – A great combination of puppets and computer graphics with an engaging and witty story.
Very Tim Burton in style but none the worse for that. I tried watching the 3D version to begin with but the color
was crappy and I got a headache after about 10 minutes . Red/Green 3D is utter rubbish !!!
[Touch of Frost Season 12 - “Near Death Experience” - DVD] – 25 September 2005
- A mother and daughter are
savagely attacked by knife in their home. Another Excellent Frost special. Most series go seriously off the boil by
this time in their life but Frost is still sharp. A Great and engaging murder mystery.
[Qi the C series - Series 3 - Episodes 4 to 6 - DVD] – An enjoyable show hosted by Stephen Fry. Some clever and
witty guests. Funny and educational too.
[The New Avengers (76) – Episode 1 – “The Eagles Nest” - DVD] – Professor Von Claus, an expert in cryogenics, is
kidnapped and taken to a remote Scottish Isle. The island is inhabited by monks who use fishing rods baited with
poison to kill 'unwelcome guests', having already disposed of one of Steed's colleagues. They need Von Claus to
recover "Germany's Greatest Treasure". I used to really enjoy this series as a child and watching it again brings the
5|P a g e
memories flooding back. By today’s standards the effects, dialogue and acting are pretty poor bit this all adds to
the charm.
Week Ending: 13th December 2009
[The New Avengers (76) – Episode 1 – “The Eagles Nest” - DVD] – Professor Von Claus, an expert in cryogenics, is
kidnapped and taken to a remote Scottish Isle. The island is inhabited by monks who use fishing rods baited with
poison to kill 'unwelcome guests', having already disposed of one of Steed's colleagues. They need Von Claus to
recover "Germany's Greatest Treasure". I used to really enjoy this series as a child and watching it again brings the
memories flooding back. By today’s standards the effects, dialogue and acting are pretty poor bit this all adds to
the charm.
[The New Avengers (76) – Episode 2 – “The Midas Touch” - DVD] - Professor Turner is an expert in disease
carriers and has developed a way to allow a man, known as Midas, to carry some of the most deadly viruses yet
remain immune – however the merest touch from Midas spells infection and death for the victim. Turner wishes to
sell Midas to the highest bidder – in exchange for gold, which he is obsessed with. The buyer plans to use Midas'
ability to take power in his country. An Ok episode with some truly awful acting and effects. Hong Kong Harry was
particularly funny as the worst ever portrayal of a Chinese person by a white actor. Purdy still looked great and
there was a car chase between and XJS and a Aston Martin DBS so it wasn’t all bad.
[The New Avengers (76) – Episode 3 – “House of Cards” - DVD] - When Russian agent Perov attempts to
recapture defector Professor Vasil, Steed steps in to foil the snatch. Perov, unable to face being sent home in
disgrace, fakes his suicide and activates the 'House of Cards' plan in which several sleeper agents are 'awakened'
with orders to kill Gambit, Purdey and Steed. A very enjoyable episode and it featured Steeds Custom XJR12…Nice.
[Michael Palin Sahara - DVD Episodes 1 and 2 - DVD] – I am a huge fan of Palin’s travel logs and this one is as good
as ever. He has a unique way of fitting in with the locals and capturing the real essence of the places he visits. Like
all his videos this is not an adventure for the gastronomically weak. The video Diary extras are a great bonus.
Week Ending 23rd January 2011
[Open All Hours Pilot - 25 March 1973 - DVD] - This was Part of the Seven of One series and featured the same
cast with the exception of the Nurse. The nurse they used in the actual TV series was much better. Classic Ronnie
Barker.
[Open All Hours – Series 1 Episode 1 - "Full Of Mysterious Promise" - 20 Feb 1976 - DVD] – Why don’t we get
engaged before we both grow a moustache?” What’s more fruitless – Arkwright’s pursuit of Nurse Gladys
Emmanuel, or his attempt to sell tins of food without labels? This was a great first episode.
6|P a g e
[Open All Hours – Series 1 Episode 2 - "Mattress On Wheels" - 27 Feb 1976 - DVD] – Arkwright’s always been
dead against getting a van, until Granville points out the advantages of taking a lady friend for a drive. Classic
Ronnie Barker.
[One Foot In The Grave - Series 1 Episode 1 – “Alive and Buried” - 4 January 1990 – DVD] – At the age of 60,
Victor Meldrew is retired from his job as a security guard to be replaced by a box and a recorded message. As he
contemplates his future, he gets a visit from Nick Swainey’s charity for the elderly and decides to go for a job
interview. Very Funny
[One Foot In The Grave - Series 1 Episode 2 – “The Big Sleep” - 11 January 1990 – DVD] – Victor’s cousin
Geoffrey, who had also just taken early retirement at the age of 60, dies. The Meldrews attend his atheist funeral
and receive a visit from what Victor calls “the Jehovah’s Witness police”. Victor looks after a small bird that
regularly perches in his garden. As fog descends on suburbia, Victor wakes up thinking he’s dead. Great macabre
comedy.
[One Foot In The Grave - Series 1 Episode 3 - “The Valley of Fear” - 18 January 1990 – DVD] –
While photographing a sunset, Victor is mugged and graffiti is sprayed on the Meldrews’ house, so he decides to
head a Neighbourhood Watch meeting. Meanwhile: there’s a strange smell by the sideboard, a problem with the
central heating, an old woman in the loft, and a cat in the freezer. Classic Episode.
[One Foot In The Grave - Series 1 Episode 4 - "I'll Retire to Bedlam" - 25 January 1990 - DVD] – Victor is trapped in
his shed for 3 hours thanks to a swarm of belligerent bees, stuck in the optician’s for a day with his eyes shut, then
stuck babysitting some unpleasant children.
[One Foot In The Grave - Series 1 Episode 5 - "The Eternal Quadrangle" - 1 February 1990 - DVD] – Margaret is
pleased when Victor takes up painting–until she discovers that he has been painting a nude model, Doreen, and
driving her home afterwards.
[One Foot In The Grave - Series 1 Episode 6 - "The Return of the Speckled Band" - 8 February 1990 - DVD] –
Before the Meldrews can leave for their holiday in Athens, they must cope with Victor’s fear of flying, Mrs
Warboys’ food poisoning, having their electricity meter read, and an escaped snake.
[Red Dwarf Series 1 Episode 2 - "Future Echoes" - 22 February 1988 – DVD] – Red Dwarf has been steadily
accelerating for three million years and when it breaches light speed the new crew begin to experience visions
from their own futures. Lister is shocked that his future self appears to have blown up while making a repair to the
ship. However it was not him he saw, it was his son Bexley as revealed by a future echo Lister aged 171. The future
Lister tells present Lister to run to the medibay to take a picture of Jim and Bexley as babies.
[Red Dwarf Series 1 Episode 3 - "Balance of Power" - 29 February 1988 – DVD] – Lister wants to go on a date with
the hologram of his former love interest, navigation officer Kristine Kochanski (C. P. Grogan), but it would mean
7|P a g e
replacing Rimmer as the ship hologram, which of course Rimmer will not let happen. Lister decides to do a cooking
exam so he can become a chef, and if he passes he will hold sufficient rank to order this. Rimmer attempts to
discourage Lister from taking the exam, but fails in this task.
[The Mighty Boosh – Series 1 Episode 1 - "Killeroo" - 18 May 2004 - DVD] – Howard is blackmailed by Bob Fossil,
who forces him to participate in a boxing match with a kangaroo. Howard thinks that by winning the fight he will
impress Mrs Gideon, Head of Reptiles, so Vince decides to help him by training him up. Oly Ralfe, vocalist of the
Ralfe Band makes a cameo in this episode as Jimmy the Reach. He is seen in both the gym and at the very end of
the episode. Strange stuff but enjoyable.
[The Mighty Boosh – Series 1 Episode 2 - "Mutants" Paul King 25 May 2004 - DVD] – Animals at the Zoo-niverse
are disappearing; when Mrs Gideon’s python goes missing, Howard and Vince decide to investigate. They soon

[Porridge Series 1 Episode 2 - "The Hustler" - 12 September 1974 - DVD] – Fletch is planning a rule-breaking

[Man vs. Wild: Collection 1 : Scotland - DVD] – The mountains of Cairngorms National Park in northeast Scotland
boast breathtaking views, but freezing conditions mean food and fresh water are scarce. Bear braves the icy peaks,

bigger dilemma – could ending the war mean the death of Rose?
[Kevin Smith: Too Fat for 40 -DVD] – On the heels of a humiliating incident in which he was ejected from a
Southwest Airlines flight because of his generous size, director Kevin Smith bites back in this television comedy
special filmed in his hometown of Red Bank, N.J. Part concert and part Q&A session, the performance finds Smith

Out and more. A pretty funny stand up.

female self. Later he finds himself pregnant with twins, as in the parallel dimension, it is the men who fall
pregnant.
[Carlitos Way - DVD] – a stonking good ganster movie in a similar vein to scarface.
[Carlito's Way -Rise to Power - DVD] – This movie was supposed to be a prequel to Carlito’s way but it really
wasnt. It was a pretty good gangster flick and was worth a watch. Clever ending.

‘good cop, bad cop’ routine on a local villain. Bernard explains how going to a dinner party eventually led to a
broken arm while Fran describes the steps from seeing her boyfriend having dinner with another woman to being
in hospital with a neck injury.
[Black’s Books Series 1 Episode 5 – "The Big Lock-Out" – DVD] – 27 October 2000 – After being burgled, Black
Books gets a new alarm and security door fitted, but Manny fails to listen to the unlock code, distracted by a little
Subbuteo player in the installer’s hair (“there was a little man … in his hair”). This quickly results in Manny being
trapped alone inside with only a quickly-emptied bottle of Absinthe and dead bees for company and Bernard
locked outside with just enough money for popcorn and a cinema ticket. Meanwhile, Fran has taken the phone off
the hook to listen to silky-voiced Howell Granger read the shipping forecast on the radio, leaving Bernard to
wander the streets of London penniless, cold and wet, with only an adult video shop and the allure of fast-food
employment between him and freezing.
[Black’s Books Series 1 Episode 6 – 6 "He's Leaving Home" – DVD] - 3 November 2000 – Bernard finally breaks the
last straw with his constant bullying, and Manny decides to leave home, but doesn’t even manage to let Bernard

sheets and crinkle-cut chips in silver bowls, but such high living comes at a high price.

boy looks exactly like Luke. And when Mr Smith, Sarah Jane’s super-computer, confirms that Luke is a genetic
match with Ashley, Sarah Jane sends him back to live with his “parents”. But, with no knowledge of his former life,
Luke finds it hard to fit in and, when he tries to escape, he makes a startling discovery about who his parents really
are. Sarah Jane, meanwhile, makes some investigations into the Pharos Para-Science Institute – a research unit
that has been conducting experiments using alien technology.
[The Sarah Jane Adventures - "The Lost Boy" Part 2 - DVD] – Maria and her dad, Alan, dig deeper into the mystery
of Luke’s new parents and discover that Luke has actually been kidnapped by the Slitheen, in the final episode of
the popular children’s adventure series. There are more shocks in store when Sarah Jane and Maria find out that
Mr Smith, Sarah Jane’s super computer, is one of the bad guys. With Clyde nowhere to be seen, Luke in the
clutches of aliens and no Mr Smith to help, things aren’t looking good for Sarah Jane and Maria. But just what do
the Slitheen want with Luke and who, or what, exactly, is the Xylok?
[Reaper, Season 1: Episode 1 "Pilot" - DVD] – Sam Oliver is a slacker, spending his time as a below average
employee of The WorkBench; college was too “sleepy”. But the day of his 21st birthday is life-altering as Sam
discovers his parents previous sale of his soul to The Devil. Now, it is his responsibility to recapture lost souls from
Hell with the aid of vessels–magical objects specifically designed for the confinement of a lost soul. His first soul: a
fireman who enjoys setting fires. Along with his friends Sock and Ben, Sam goes after his first target using his
sudden telekinetic power and the devilish Dirt Devil vacuum vessel, while simultaneously trying to kindle a
romantic relationship with his co-worker Andi.
[Reaper, Season 1: Episode 2 "Charged" - DVD] – The second soul assigned to Sam is something of a shocker–an
energy salesman whose escape from Hell is accompanied by electrical storms across town. But Sam is not too
eager to adopt the bounty hunter mantle, instead fleeing from his responsibility, and the vessel (a Daredevil radiocontrol monster truck). Meanwhile, lying to his mother about his involvement with The Devil is beginning to tax
their relationship despite the gift of a brand new hybrid. Eventually, Sam collects the rogue soul with a little
motivation from The Devil, and a little help from his friends. And, with the truth revealed to his mother, mother
and son decide to say nothing to younger brother, Kyle.
[Reaper, Season 3: "All Mine" - DVD] – Sam discovers everything going into his mouth suddenly spawns
cockroaches, an interesting hint as to the nature of his next target soul–the jealous lover of an elderly widower.
Guess what happened to his wife? Now, the lost soul is a swirling mass of angry insects while Sam and his friends
desperately attempt to repair the broken toaster vessel delivered by The Devil. Meanwhile, Sam struggles with
encouraging Andi to return to college despite the pain of separation, but perhaps his adventure in the love life of
the damned might inspire hope for his own life.
[Reaper, Season 1: "Magic" - DVD] – Another interesting mission for Sam beginning with random objects of his
disappearing and reappearing in odd locations. It is his hint to search for his fourth lost soul in the shape of an
arrogant magician working at a nearby carnival, someone who is murdering his “ungrateful” audience with magic
tricks. However, Sam is occupied with the prospect of spending a night alone with Andi while driving to Idaho to
23 | P a g e
attend a university concert, and, more specifically, how to dodge The Devil’s prohibition of any vacation for his
condemned servant. The hunt is suddenly intensified, though, when Andi is unwittingly directed to one of the
crazed magician’s magic shows, and, although Sam rescues her with the help of his friends and their newly arrived
pet–the white dove doubling as a demonic vessel from Hell, Andi is disappointed by his repeated flakiness. In
return for his earlier manipulation The Devil finally awards Sam the contract for his soul, but the poor boy is out of
luck with Andi.
Week Ending 3rd April 2011
[ReaperError! Bookmark not defined., Season 1 Episode 5 "What About Blob?" - DVD] – Sam is beginning to worry
when wherever he steps, he slips–another unnecessarily inconvenient clue to the identity of his next target, the
gentleman being an environmentally bankrupt father of the son who is currently attempting to break into the
political realm while defending against accusations of his family’s heavy pollution. So, Sam is not only strolling
around with tape wrapped about his shoes, carrying the ridiculously ugly wool sweater vessel, and facing smelly
sewer patrols for something slimy, but his luck with Andi is out. After the delivery of his contract, and hours of
document signing, kept Sam away from their date at the karaoke bar, Andi is dating the gorgeous college success,
Greg. The Devil attempts to aid Sam in his dilemma, revealing Greg is dating twins simultaneously, but Sam
determines to reveal the truth about his bounty hunting career. The episode ends with the messy capture of the
rogue father, while Sam’s own father is burning pages of the contract he agreed to translate; and, as for Andi…Andi
is upset (probably because of the nasty rumor about Greg dating twins, apparently his sisters, released by Sam
himself during a hasty moment). Ah, well.

gas nebula, Starbug is taken over by a tractor beam which takes it to a space station. There the crew discover

normal human, able to touch, feel, eat, and experience pain. He also becomes virtually indestructible. They learn
that Legion is composed from the minds of each member of the crew, combined and magnified, and as such they
are sustaining his very existence with their presence. Legion will not allow them to leave and continue the search
for Red Dwarf…

uninteresting region of space and the crew are bored and begin to nitpick at petty areas of their lives. Meanwhile

outrageously fictionalised events from Rimmer’s diaries.

basket, and also discovers that it was the nanobots who stole the mothership Red Dwarf in the first instance.

[Red Dwarf: Back to Earth - "Part One" - Directors Cut - DVD] - 10 April 2009 - Lister's day of annoying Rimmer is
cut short after the discovery of a dimension-hopping leviathan in the ship's water tank. This leads to the
appearance (as a hard-light hologram) of deceased science officer Katerina Bartikovsky (Sophie Winkleman), who
begins to make plans to permanently remove Rimmer and to assist Lister in restoring the human race. Has some
funny lines but it felt a bit odd to me.
[Red Dwarf: Back to Earth - "Part Two" - Directors Cut - DVD] - 11 April 2009 - Lister, Rimmer, Kryten and Cat
appear on contemporary Earth and discover that they are fictional characters from a television show called "Red
Dwarf". They find a DVD box for "Back to Earth" and discover that they are to die at the end. They decide to track
down their creators to plead for an extension, in a parody of Blade Runner. The DVD box also refers to a series X
that does not actually exist as of yet. Katerina arrives via a second portal, but is quickly killed by Rimmer after she
makes the mistake of telling him that taking the life of a hologram is not murder as they are already dead. A
discussion between Lister and two children on a bus reveals that Kochanski may not be dead. Has some funny lines
but it felt a bit odd to me.
[Red Dwarf: Back to Earth - "Part Three" - Directors Cut - DVD] - 12 April 2009 - Lister, Rimmer, Kryten and Cat use
the car they take from the President of the Red Dwarf fan club, made out to resemble Starbug. They go to the set
of Coronation Street, where they question Craig Charles about how much time they have left. Charles tells them
they are down to their last episode, as well as giving them the address of 'the creator', before joking that he needs
to go back to the Priory (a reference to the actor's real life drug problems). They find the creator, in a scene heavily
referencing Blade Runner. He tells them that their deaths cannot be undone, but they will at least die gloriously. In
a struggle Lister manages to kill him, before finding that this was scripted by the creator. Lister then burns the
creator's script & rewrites their own ending. They then discover that the typewriter is not determining their
actions. The small origami sculptures left by the Cat turn out to be squids, leading the crew to realise that they
have been drawn into an alternative reality by another despair squid. Rimmer, Kryten and Cat have formed
resistance to the Despair Squid through their previous meeting, but Lister chooses to stay in the false reality where
he gets together with Kochanski, despite the knowledge that she isn't real. After a period of time with Kochanski
Lister decides to head back to his own reality, with a renewed sense of his own self-worth, determined to find the
real Kochanski and win her back. The episode ends with the four laughing at the fact that the fans of Red Dwarf
created by the Despair Squid's hallucination (i.e. the viewers) will think that their reality is the real one, and the
Red Dwarf reality dependent on it, as opposed to the other way round. Has some funny lines but it felt a bit odd to
me.

staff limitations. Early on, proceedings come to a halt when Winkle Graham cuts his toe on a loose tile, and the

biology lab and finds Trisha there. Against her better judgement, Trisha lets Judy look at the grey school hamster,
but it escapes when the bossy Miss Clark suddenly enters. Trisha earns a detention for her earrings. In trying to
corner the creature, Trisha and Judy bring down a bookcase. Judy decides they can replace the animal, and Trisha
remembers she has school holiday money. Judy runs to buy a hamster from the nearby pet shop while Trisha tidies
up the lab.
[Grange Hill Series 1 Episode 6 - DVD] - 15 March 1978 - Benny finally is able to go to school with the proper
blazer. In woodwork, Tucker challenges Benny to go with him to visit an old ammunition dump; Justin, wanting to
prove he is no chicken, agrees to go too. Tucker leads them through the site, but they are disappointed to find it's
just a derelict house next to a junk yard. Wandering around, the trio get stuck in a room, with weird sounds
nearby. They break down the door to find it was just a cat, which scarpers. Upstairs is a lifting trolley which Tucker
uses to give Benny and Justin rides, but outside, a truck is heading in their direction with workmen inside. Tucker,
Benny and Justin realize they will be seen leaving from the front, so scale the wall at the rear. It's no use - the
workmen have seen them, but Justin is still climbing the ladder and has nowhere to go; he falls backwards with a
yell.

[Grange Hill Series 1 Episode 7 - DVD] - 22 March 1978 - Judy and Trisha speculate that Miss Mathers is seeing Mr.
Mitchell. It's time to elect representatives to the school council, but to start with each form has to come up with
likely candidates. Mr. Mitchell tells his form that the possibilities are Trisha, Tucker and Ann, although some
unlikely other options are Snoopy, the Six Million Dollar Man and "our budgie". Trisha immediately wants to opt
out, while Ann, with support from both Judy and Trisha, suggests that Tucker is an inappropriate choice, because
he messes around. A fourth choice materializes in the form of new boy Doyle, whose credentials include having a
father on the local council, but who has a history of bad behaviour. Form One Alpha easily votes in Ann to be their
candidate, and then the campaigns get started.

[Dr Who - "The Next Doctor" - DVD] - 25th December 2008 - Dr Who encounters the Cybermen and someone who

[Some Mothers Do Have Them - Jessica's First Christmas - DVD] - 25 December 1974. Frank gets involved in the
church's nativity play, much against Father O'Hara's wishes - and with predictably disastrous results.
[Some Mothers Do Have Them - Learning to Drive - DVD] – 25 December 1975. After being fired from his job as a
Christmas pixie, Frank receives a letter from the BBC inviting him to appear on a show called 'Man about the
Home'. David Jacobs turns up and attempts to film but Frank's DIY disasters become apparent. At the same time,
Frank is taking driving lessons. He takes his test (for the 10th time) - a series of near misses ensue and Frank ends
up driving off the end of a pier into the sea. Even then, he yells to the harassed and bedraggled examiner, who has
made rapidly for the shore, "Mr Hayes - have I passed?"
[The Two Ronnies – The Christmas Specials - DVD] – No Christmas was complete without the Two Ronnies when I
was growing up. I still watch them at Christmas and still really enjoy them. Featuring the full Two Ronnies
Christmas Specials from 1982, 1984 and 1987 as well as the 1973 Old Fashioned Christmas Mystery and their
appearance in the 1972 Christmas Night with the Stars. The Christmas Specials featured extra special guests - such
as Elton John, David Essex and Elaine Paige - and great Christmas fun, as well as the regular Two Ronnies fare of
the opening and closing news headlines, party, allotment and pub sketches and Ronnie Corbett's shaggy dog
monologues.

[Bottom – Series 2 Episode 5 “Holy” - DVD] – Eddie and Richie celebrate Christmas by inviting Spudgun and Dave
Hedgehog around for Christmas dinner and a day of fun and games. After a knock at the door Richie finds a baby
left on their doorstep. Due to a few more misperceptions Richie believes the baby is the Second Coming of Jesus.
The ultimate Christmas special by the crazy Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson. This a very funny re-telling of the
nativity with comic violence.
[Porridge – The Christmas Specials – DVD] – Featuring the full Two Ronnies Christmas Specials from 1982, 1984
and 1987 as well as the 1973 Old Fashioned Christmas Mystery and their appearance in the 1972 Christmas Night
with the Stars. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett's magnificent partnership
became a cherished British institution. Their Christmas Specials were particularly eagerly awaited and, for many,
they were the highlight of the festive television schedules. The Christmas Specials featured extra special guests such as Elton John, David Essex and Elaine Paige - and great Christmas fun, as well as the regular Two Ronnies fare
of the opening and closing news headlines, party, allotment and pub sketches and Ronnie Corbett's shaggy dog
monologues.
If I was to choose a favorite it would be "No Way Out" where Ronnie Barker is on absolute top form trying to get to
spend Christmas in the prison hospital. Fletch fakes pain from an old knee injury to wangle Christmas in the prison
hospital. The Doctor is not going to allow him into the hospital unless he has a full check up and x-ray at the local
civilian hospital. Fletch is then enlisted to assist in smuggling a blank passport to aid the never seen Tommy
Slocombe's escape. In one of Porridge's classic scenes Fletch tries to drop Mackay in it but in the process wins
himself the stay in hospital he was looking for all along.
The Desperate Hours (Originally Transmitted Christmas Eve 1976), Fletch and Godber are caught brewing illicit
drink and are put before the Governor. They become hostages of Urwin with a U with Fletch ending up as the hero
of the hour. Revelations about Henry Barrowclough are made during this episode as well regarding the Governor's
secretary.

claims to have been Frank's GP for years and to still have Frank's chimney brush up his chimney when this was in
fact Dr Smedley.

David Knight from the Isle of Man repeated his 2005 victory in the big-bike category while Finland's Samuli Aro and
