Nucleus: Nucleus is a spherical cell organelle comprising of nucleolus, nucleoplasm and nuclear
membrane. The nucleus controls the functions of other organelles within the cell. It also contains
the genetic material –the DNA-chromosomes and chromatin
Centrioles: These organelles are found near the nucleus, which are paired and composed of nine
tubes, each containing three tubules. These organelles are involved in cellular division.
Mitochondria: These double layered organelles are the power houses of a cell.
Endoplasmic reticulum: These organelles are fused with the nuclear membrane. They store ,
separate and serve as cell’s transport system. These are of two types:1) Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum- which lack ribosomes
2) Rough Endoplasmic reticulum – which contains ribosomes embedded on its surface.
Golgi apparatus: These are protein packaging plant, composed of numerous layers forming a
sac.
Lysosome: These organelles vary in shape depending on the process being carried out. They
transport undigested material to the cell membrane for removal. When lysosome explodes it
causes the cell to break down.
Ribosomes: These are protein factories of a cell, forming 25 % of cell's mass
