Leviticus 12:1-2
1The
Lord said to Moses, 2“Say to the
Israelites: ‘A woman who becomes
pregnant and gives birth to a son will be
ceremonially unclean for seven days, just
as she is unclean during her monthly
period.’”
2
Leviticus 13:41-46
41If
he (a man) has lost his hair from the front
of his scalp and has a bald forehead, he is
clean. 42But if he has a reddish-white sore on
his bald head or forehead, it is a defiling
disease breaking out on his head or forehead.
43The
priest is to examine him, and if the
swollen sore on his head or forehead is
reddish-white like a defiling skin disease, 44the
man is diseased and is unclean. The priest shall
pronounce him unclean because of the sore on
his head. …
3
Leviticus 13:41-46
45“Anyone
with such a defiling disease must
wear torn clothes, let their hair be unkempt,
cover the lower part of their face and cry out,
‘Unclean! Unclean!’ 46As long as they have the
disease they remain unclean. They must live
alone; they must live outside the camp.”
4
Leviticus 14:1-7
1The
Lord said to Moses, 2“These are the
regulations for any diseased person at the time
of their ceremonial cleansing, when they are
brought to the priest: 3The priest is to go
outside the camp and examine them.
If they have been healed of their defiling
skin disease, 4the priest shall order that two
live clean birds and some cedar wood, scarlet
yarn and hyssop be brought for the person to
be cleansed. …
5
Leviticus 14:1-7
5Then
the priest shall order that one of the
birds be killed over fresh water in a clay pot.
6 He is then to take the live bird and dip it,
together with the cedar wood, the scarlet yarn
and the hyssop, into the blood of the bird that
was killed over the fresh water.
7 Seven times he shall sprinkle the one to be
cleansed of the defiling disease, and then
pronounce them clean.
6
Leviticus 15:31-33
31"
You must keep the Israelites separate from
things that make them unclean; so that they
will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my
dwelling place, which is among them.
32These are the regulations for a man with a
discharge, for anyone made unclean by an
emission of semen, 33 for a woman in her
monthly period, for a man or a woman with a
discharge, and for a man who lies with a
woman who is ceremonially unclean.”

But why be so specific in zooming in onto skin
diseases only ?
Because the symptoms of skin diseases show the
devastating, death-causing effects of diseases.

What is it that God hates, and its properties are
similar to the skin disease symptoms in Chapter
13, that it is infectious, ie, it spreads, and it brings
death-ness to certain parts of its host, and will
eventually even bring total death to the subject it is
infecting ?

Are there sins in our lives which we
know are not pleasing to God, which we
must let go ?

Leviticus 13 talks about skin diseases, but
theologically it is a call for us to beware of sin,
because sin will spread in our lives and it will
bring death, at the very least, spiritual death –
which is separation from God.

Grain and Guilt offerings –
It means God is willing for us to enter His
presence again, for He has taken away our
guilt, and He is more than ready to bless us
abundantly again.

and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it
and live.’ So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a
pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked
at the bronze snake, they lived.

What is being pro-life ?
• Pro your own life – spiritual, physical, psychological,
emotional, relational
• Pro your family’s life
• Pro your colleagues’ and neighbors’ lives
• Pro the lives of those oppressed
Anti-death(sin)
• Recognize our sins
• Pray to God – ask Him to give us strength to give up our
sins
• Confess to the Lord and seek His forgiveness
• Receive new life and faith from Jesus to overcome our
sins
– it can be done – for millions of people have
done it

1. Are we pro-life and anti-sin (are we willing
to move away from things which are sinful)?
1. Are we holy in every aspect of our life,
whether in church or in the world – at
home, at work, in school, at the club, etc ?
1. Are we are willing to consecrate important
aspects of our lives to God, such that they
become holy unto the Lord ?
And we know that consecration always calls
for sacrifice.

between the unclean and the clean.”
