DPTI Building and Construction Project Prequalification System

Category Selection

DPTI has registered general (and residential) building contractors in categories in the DPTI

Building and Construction Project Prequalification System and has a strong preference for contracting with prequalified contractors.

It is a requirement that the conditions of tendering state on projects over $150,000 that:

 only prequalified general building contractors are invited to tender

Only general building contractors that are registered in the specified Prequalification

System category on the date of tender close are eligible to tender.

The tender documents will nominate the required prequalification category based on an assessment of value, risk and technical requirements.

With reference to the matrix below, assess the value, delivery and technical risks in the construction contract by checking the appropriate boxes and then recommend the general building contractor prequalification category.

Selected Subcontract Work

Prequalification System Work/Trade Type and Category Selection

DPTI has registered trade/subcontractors into work/trade types in categories that represent a value range and has a strong preference that these contractors are invited to tender.

DPTI requires that prequalified trade/sub-contractors undertake trade/subcontract work over

$150,000 in value in the work/trade types listed below. The tender documents shall identify as

Selected Subcontractor Work the work/trade types for which prequalified trade/sub-contractors are to be used based on an assessment of value, risk and technical requirements. The selected subcontractors are listed in the Preliminaries trade of the specification.

Pre-tender Call Declaration

With reference to the matrix below, assess the delivery and technical risks and the value of potential Selected Subcontract Work and recommend the work/trade type category required

(and draft Preliminaries Clause 1.3 accordingly).

The final assessment of required work/trade types and categories will be determined by DPTI and may require the Preliminaries to be adjusted.
