Teaching Philosophy
Every student has the ability to succeed in school. It takes determinations, a great
work ethic and ambition on the part of the student and his/her teacher. My
personal philosophy is to challenge every student by providing engaging and
though-provoking instruction. I believe in a rigorous curriculum that facilitates
critical thinking. I am determined to make each student who leaves my classroom
closer to being prepared for college. I also believe that studying literature is a great
vehicle into understanding the human condition.
Course Overview
This course will expose students to great literary classics both contemporary and
pre-twentieth century. This course will focus on numerous themes, time periods
and genres in literature.
Students will be expected to write both academic and creative pieces. Students will
also be given challenging projects. Students will be expected to submit written

at least once a week as well. Students will also turn in written assignments online
through the class website. There will also be time for on demand timed writing to
prepare students for the demand of the AP exam as well as college.
