High School OMEA S&E contest – there is a REQUIRED LIST
from which all songs must be chosen.

OMEA Solo & Ensemble Contest: February 6, 2016 at Tri C- West
Campus- in Parma, Ohio
The contest is on February 6th- so all entries must be entered by the director on line by
January 9- …so that means All INFO is Due by January 5.

Click HS Solo and Ensemble Music List - enter the information about your solo to find
SONG CODE. Code is a number, letter, number ( ex. 32A4)

Turn in a paper to Mr Rovniak or Mrs Patriok with your name, solo title,
event code, and fees.

Scales for all instruments are to be played evenly and smoothly, ascending and descending, one octave, except for
Bb soprano clarinet which plays two octaves. Each tone of the scale should be at a speed of quarter note = 80-120
beats per minute.
Note: High school Trombone, Melodic Percussion (including Steel Drums) soloists will perform two major scales
(no chromatic). Steel Drum soloists will use the C instrument scale requirements. Bass clef baritone and other nontransposing bass clef instruments use the scales for C instruments. Treble clef baritone uses scales for the Bb
instruments.

Tympani soloists must tune the tympani to specific pitches without assistance to demonstrate
tuning. Students may ask for pitches from the piano (or other keyboard) and may also use a
