AP Take-Home Essay Assignment Directions: 1. Set your timer for 5 minutes: read and annotate the assigned passage. 2. Set your timer for 40 minutes: compose a 4- to 6-paragraph essay, per the instructions provided in the prompt. 3. Read the student “9” essay sample provided after the prompt and passage. 4. Revise your essay as desired. ANY similarity between your essay and the "9" essay will be thoroughly investigated. If plagiarism is detected, you will earn a zero for the assignment AND after school detention AND your parents will be contacted for a parent-teacher conference, to be conducted by you. 5. Take-home essays are due on Fridays when you arrive in class. If you are absent on a Friday, your essay is due the day you return to class. Because this is a long-term assignment, absent students do not get extra time on the essay once they return to class.
