The subculture is a way of life…
Subculture is a community of
people whose beliefs,
views on life and behavior
are different from
conventional or simply
hidden from the public,
which distinguishes them
from the broader concepts
of culture, a branch of
which they are. Most
often, subcultures
transferred to a separate
ideological concept, as in
the case of LGBT as hard
to call a culture to which
she belonged.
Considered belonging to
a subculture of stigma
is not worth it, unless
it grows beyond
human society.
Defiance of
representatives of
some flows become so
stereotyped, that the
very name has become
synonymous with
subcultures.

Animations
Animation is one of the
youngest subculture in
Russia. It became popular in
1990-2000 years. But this
subculture appeared in Japan.
Animation can be a man of
any age, sex, social status and
nationality. The
representatives of this
subculture watch Japanese
cartoons which are called
anime and read the Japanese
comics-manga.
Animations divide on some category:

Kosplears
Kosplears are people who change
clothes in costumes by the hero
anime and play various
interpretations.
They always sew costumes
themselves, they buy wigs and
attributes in special shops. The price
of such costumes reaches 5 thousand
rubles.
Kosplay is an original theatre of characters anime,
mangas, the Japanese video games and also
historical Japanese costumes (a kimono ).

Kosplears usually spend festivals on special parties
which are connected with anime and manga culture
• In the Russian subculture
a lot of attention is given
to the appearance and
disclosing of the chosen
image through theatrical
performances and its
realization on public. Also
in frameworks
photocosplay disclosing of
an image, characteristic
poses and backgrounds,
subject shooting is
welcomed.
Fan-arts draw the characters anime
in unusual circumstances.
Mangakas draw comics. They become an
anime.

Talking about the appearance of animation
• A distinctive feature of an animation is his
bag. There should be an image of the
character of anime and many badges on it.
• As many animations make unusual
hairdressers and paint hair in different
colours.
• Among girl the image of the Japanese
schoolgirl is distributed: short skirt, blouse,
tie and gulfs.
The room of the animation looks
like that
Animations listen to the Japanese
music, adore the Japanese dishes,
culture, art and consider this
country as an embodiment of the
certain ideal.
Animations are against drugs and
try to lead healthy way of life:
why should we spend money for
cigarettes, alcohol and drugs
when it is possible to buy a disk, a
bag or a T-shirt with the image of
a favourite hero.
What do they want?
•
•
•
•
They want to express their own identity.
They want to show off.
They want to be in collective.
They want to help people around and to find
themselves.
The majority of people of the senior generation don’t
like subcultures. They think that teenagers join this or
that subculture under the influence of the bad
companies or thus try to make the protest against
society. They suppose that the subculture is connected
with such concepts as disrespect, callousness,
immorality. In society people think that animations are
people who are either children or adults, their life is not
folded. Animations are alike gotts, emoes and punks.
People, who consider so, actually are mistaken very
strong.
Why have I chosen this subculture?
• I have chosen this subculture because animations
are colouful among the crowd.
• Animations aren’t afraid of being not similar to
others.
• I consider that this
subculture is the best,
compared with all
subcultures. They
don’t make any harm
they are in collective
among those who
understand them.
I think that the society has prejudices
and doesn’t trust aminations. This leads to
misunderstanding between children and
their parents.

The ravers — youth subculture of constant
participants of raves — the parties of the
electronic dance music which has received
mass popularity in 1988 in Great Britain.
The rave – from an English word, rave –
delirium to rave, incoherent speech. Also – to
roar, rage, storm, howl.
The word “rave”
• In the late 1980s, the word "rave" was adopted to
describe the subculture that grew out of the acid
house movement. Activities were related to the party
atmosphere of Ibiza, a Mediterranean island in
Spain, frequented by British, Italians, and German
youth on vacation. The fear that a certain number
of rave party attendees used "club drugs" such as
MDMA, cocaine, amphetamines and, more recently,
ketamine, was taken by authorities as a pretext to
ban those parties altogether.
• By 1991, organisations such
as Fantazia, Universe,
Raindance and Amnesia
House were holding massive
legal raves in fields and
warehouses around the
country. Vision at Pophams
airfield in August 1992,
attracted 40,000 people.
Another notable event was
Universe's Tribal Gathering
in 1993.
•The illegal free party scene also reached its zenith for
that time after a particularly large festival, when many
individual sound systems such as Bedlam, Circus
Warp, DIY, and Spiral Tribe set up near Castlemorton
Common.
• In the late 80s, rave culture began to filter
through from English ex-pats and DJs who
would visit Europe. However, rave culture's
major expansion in North America is often
credited to Frankie Bones, who after
spinning a party in an aircraft hangar in
England helped organize some of the
earliest known American raves in New
York City that maintained a consistent core
audience. After this, hundreds of smaller
promotional groups sprung up across the
east coast, and later the west coast, causing
a true "scene" to develop.
•Raves were also represented in mainstream culture, even this
early in their existence. The film Party Monster (2003) shared
aspects of the rave scene via anachronism, since it was set
during the "Club Kid" era of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Los Angeles had Raves early as 1988. The early rave scene thrived in Los Angeles
due to the fact that the city had such a large, multi-cultural population, a
dry/temperate climate, and vast amounts of space which made locations plentiful.
Warehouses were often broken into or hired (often through deceptive means to
unsuspecting owners), a sound system and lighting was set up on the day of the
event, and people would phone the info lines on the backs of flyers on the evening of
the party to find out the location. This would often involve first going to a map point,
which would be a predetermined location where people would get tickets and
directions to the actual event, or directions to another map point. The map points
would often be used to create excitement and anticipation for the rave, but also to
allude police and large numbers of people loitering outside of the venue. Raves would
often range from smaller, more intimate low-budget events, to large, full scale
productions with multiple international DJ's and acts, expensive lasers and visual
effects, and props often in theme with the event. Some of the better known early
events were Alice's House, Under The Paw Paw Patch, Love. Sex. Dance, Grape Ape,
Gilligan's, Truth, and Double Hit Mickey.
San Francisco has long been a
Mecca for ravers from all over
the world and true to form a
lot of the early promoters and
DJs were from the UK and
Europe. For almost ten years
after the initial raves took
place, one could find up to 2 to
4 parties happening a weekend
and sometimes on the same
night.
There was no curfew in place, which allowed the SF scene to
explode by the late 90's when venues would have up to
20,000 people every weekend;

Some cultural tenets associated with rave culture are:
"Peace"
"Love"

•The word "Responsibility" was added to the
acronym PLUR during the mid to late 90s to
promote awareness of increased drug overdoses
at raves.

Rave dance (sometimes referred to
as hard dance) refers to the street
dance styles that evolved alongside
rave culture. Such dances are street

the underground rave movements,
thus without the intervention of
dance studios. Sometimes cluboriented dances would be

Depending on the rave, raver and the
type of music played, specific dances
that are danced by ravers to
accompany the music may vary. For
example the melbourne shuffle is

of motor bicycles. Unlike ordinary
motorcyclists, for bikers motor

Symbolism
Can you imagine a biker without any
symbols? Without the skull, of course!
And do you know what symbolizes a
skull for them? So, it means
protection from death for them.
There is the belief that when death
comes, it leaves its mark on the head a skull, and if a person has already
this characteristic, the death does
not affect in this case.
Bikers are precisely free and selfconfident people. They are characterized
by funny party, lots of beer.
