In order to apply to the Business Honors Program, you must have earned a B or better in BUS 115, have
successfully completed WRT 102 and your cumulative GPA in all college courses must be 3.3 or better.
Please submit all of the following in order to have your application considered for admission:

Once you have all of the items completed, please hand-deliver your application to the Office of Student
Services located in Room 109 Harriman Hall. OSS is open Monday–Friday 9 am to 4:30 pm.
All BHP students must take the following courses:
BUS 447 Business Ethics/WRT 301 (3 credits each)
BUS 495 and BUS 496 Capstone Experience (3 credits each)






The College of Business Honors Program (BHP) Capstone enables junior and senior undergraduate students
to pursue a track of excellence of their choice required for graduation. These tracks include, but are not limited
to:
Working with a PhD faculty member in a business department of choice. The business faculty member will
serve as an advisor to assist with research design and implementation which is showcased at the Undergraduate
Research & Creative Activities (URECA) Campus wide poster symposium.
Partnering with a corporate sponsor to design an experiential program for your senior year that promotes the
synergies of learning for the organization as well as the student body at the College of Business (COB). This
Honors Capstone requires a well thought out project/plan with a reflection piece that is shared with the
employer and the COB.
Designing and producing a program/project that incorporates research and analysis in a specialization of your
choice, working with a PhD faculty mentor who serves as a mentor pursuing research in a particular
specialization with a predetermined learning outcome.
Completing a business plan as your Honors thesis, working with a faculty member in innovation or
entrepreneurship.
Pursuing social entrepreneurship/community impact by taking on a project grounded in creating innovative
solutions to society’s social problems. This Honors Capstone will require a written implementation proposal
incorporating research, analysis, possibly a corporate sponsor and an implementation plan.
Creating a project that entails leadership on the Stony Brook University Campus and the use of planning,
organizing and orchestrating an idea from conception to a measurable end result. This Honors Capstone will

Please prepare a one-page essay that addresses TWO of the following topics:
1) Describe a scholarly research question related to any area of business that you find
interesting and compelling.
2) Describe any experience that you have with research, either in high school or in college.
3) Explain how you believe you will benefit from participation in the College of Business
Honors Program. What do you hope to gain from the Program?
4) What will you contribute to the College of Business Honors Program?
5) What does commitment mean to you and how do you demonstrate commitment in your
life? How can an Honors education help you make an impact in areas that you have
shown commitment?
