Huron Click
• Huron Click is the COEUS replacement
• Committee provided substantial assistance in selecting
members of COEUS replacement selection committees.
• Committee also provided feedback
Start Up New York Review
• Working Group to review SUNY Stony Brook University’s
Campus Plan for Designation of Tax-Free Areas

• After a week to review the documents and to share questions
with Dr. Matthew Whelan, Dr. Yacov Shamash and Dr. AnnMarie Scheidt members of the committee met on January 29th
to review the Campus Plan and to prepare this document.
• Research Committee in general was also asked to provide
feedback for Start Up New York at Stony Brook
• Final report was presented report to senate (see attached)
School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical
Sciences Review
• A review of the proposal to create a School of Pharmacy
and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Stony Brook Medicine
• Tracked changes and comments were inserted into the
initial proposal
• Additional comments were attached to the proposal
• The attached document was submitted to the Executive
Committee and to Dr. Kaushansky (see attached)
Clinical Research
• Ongoing review
• Invited knowledgeable guests to speak to committee on
the topic

Graduate Student Minimal Support
• Worked with Graduate Council to create a “Joint resolution for
increase in research assistant (RA) student stipends” which
was presented and passed
• The Research Committee of the University Senate along with
the Graduate Council present a joint resolution to the University
Senate to increase the minimum student stipend for the
academic year for all RAs commensurate with the impending
raise in GA and TA minimum stipends for the academic year to
$17,145 effective January, 2013 followed by additional
increases for the 2013-2014 academic year to $18,145 and for
the 2014-2015 academic year to $20,145. Individual
Departments may set minimums above these recommended
minimal levels at their own discretion. These new minimum
levels for RAs are recommended but not required for all
existing grants and will be strictly enforced on all new
proposals submitted as of April 1st, 2013.
Next Year
• Participate in VPR/AVP recruiting efforts.
• Continue to assist in transition to Huron Click system
• Explore opportunities to aid in the submission of program
project/center grants such as P01, P20, P30 and P50
supported projects. Invite Dr. Obeid to report on the landscape.
