Joshua Bourne EDUC-6731C-3 Assessment for Learning ASSESSMENT PHOTO ALBUM PURPOSE OF THE PHOTO ALBUM This photo album is designed for our interdisciplinary unit of World History and English Language Arts, to serve as an exciting guide of what assessments to prepare for as we decide the best way to meet the goals for this unit! LEARNING GOALS (PERFORMANCE) Students will create and conduct a presentation on the key concepts and valuable information associated with a major world religion. Students will oversee a follow-up assignment that their peers will complete to help them better understand what was presented on a particular world religion. Students will complete a self and group assessment and detailed written reflection to explain what the difficulties were in assuming the role of a teacher and producing an informative lesson from start to finish (planning, presentation, assessments, grading, etc.). Do not include your name. **You are not required to share information that is sensitive. You may choose to answer anything that you are comfortable with. 1. How long have you (and your immediate family) lived in Niles? 2. Have you had other family in Niles longer? 3. What do your parents do for a living? What company do they work for and where? 4. If you answered the previous question, how long have your parents worked there? 5. Do you know what your parents did before their current jobs? 6. Have you had a family member affected by the poor economy of the last 10 years? 7. What is your view of Niles, as a community? How has that view changed in the years that you have lived here? 8. What do you see yourself doing for a living? Where do you intend to live and fulfill that dream? FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT (INFORMAL) Oral questioning in the lab to make sure that they have the important understandings for their religion and that they are on the right track in terms of organizing their presentations appropriately. Small-group need based instruction. Example: Scheduled lab lesson on PowerPoint animations. A graded list of what is done, what is not done, and what help is needed will be typed and turned in periodically. Follow-up assignments that will be creative activities designed to highlight the most important concepts associated with each religion. These will serve as important practice and checkpoints for understanding prior to the summative quiz that the students will take when all of the religions have been presented. Do you want to work with someone you can trust? Groups will include ONE person of your choice, while the other two will be paired with you through a random draw. Research and organize information for an informative presentation, of 10 - 15 minutes, over one of the world’s major religions. Create and implement an assignment that takes 7 – 10+ minutes for the class to complete after your group’s presentation. Collect and grade 100% of the post-assignments. Write 5 test questions pertaining to the most important, yet basic, information associated with your group’s religion.
