Windows Media Player requires a one-time security upgrade to enable playback of DRM-protected files. Adobe Reader prompts for “activation” during the first download of an eBook. Digital Rights Information is provided for each title on your digital library site. After selecting digital titles, click on the ‘Proceed to Checkout’ link. Enter your library card number, without spaces. After the card is verified, titles are ready for download. The Download Page features a link to download the free digital media software. Click here to download this title. After download, you may burn an audio title to a regular audio CD (depending on digital rights for the title). An audio title may be transferred to a compatible portable device (WMA) capable of playing the DRM-protected format (depending on digital rights for the title). Digital Rights Information is provided for each title on your digital library site. Windows Media® Player Series 9+ (Free download from Microsoft). OverDrive Audio Titles are in Windows Media Audio (WMA) format. Download Audio Titles (1) Click on the ‘Download’ button. Download commences by first transferring a small license file. When downloading an OverDrive Audio Book, the OverDrive Media Console launches automatically. Select which parts to download. Enjoy listening to the first part as remaining parts are downloading. Download Audio Titles (2) You may download an audio license three times during a single lending period. ‘Parts’ may be retrieved via OverDrive Media Console unlimited times during a single lending period. After download, you may burn an audio title to a regular audio CD. Each part fits on one CD. Most publishers license burning. Some exceptions include: Time Warner, Harper Collins, Naxos, Books On Tape, and BBC Audiobooks America. OverDrive Media Console allows you to burn to a CD or transfer to a portable WMA device using Windows Media Player. Audio books: The device must either support the bit rate of 32kbps or be able to transcode 32kbps files to a supported bit rate. iPods: Unfortunately the iPod does not support DRM-protected Windows Media Audio (WMA) files, the format in which our audio titles are delivered. Automatic Check In - Audio The lending period for Greenwich You will be prompted when a title expires. Library is 14 days. When an audio title is due, it will automatically expire and be checked in. After an audio title has expired, it will remain on the your PC, but can no longer be opened unless a new license for the title is downloaded. You can check out the title again, download a new license, and listen to the previously downloaded files. Once you have finished a title, the title may be deleted from the OverDrive Media Console. It will also delete from the PC. Open OverDrive Media Console. 2. Select the title to transfer. 3. Click the ‘Transfer’ button. 4. The OverDrive Media Console Transfer Wizard will open. Connect your portable device to your computer. Click ‘Next’ to continue. When the device is detected, the ‘Confirm’ Screen will appear. Select the ‘Parts’ you wish to transfer. Choose ‘Advanced Options’ to modify the storage folder or file name (optional). Click ‘OK’ to continue. Click ‘Next’ to transfer the selected parts to your portable device. OverDrive Media Console will test for storage space. You will have the option to delete titles if the device is full. After the transfer is complete, you may disconnect your portable device. 5. Click on the ‘Transfer / Burn’ button. Windows Media Player will open. In Windows Media Player, click on the ‘Burn’ tab. Click on ‘Burn List’ in the left pane. Select the title to burn to CD. One Part will fit on one CD. Insert a blank CD to your CD drive. Activation matches users with devices and prevents illegal file sharing. Adobe eBooks are stored in File > Digital Editions > My Digital Editions (version 7.x). Double click an eBook to begin reading. Adobe eBooks checked out from the library will appear with a clock symbol in the upper right corner. Use the thumbnail view to display cover images of eBooks. OR, switch to the details view to sort by title, author, category, or date last accessed. Organize an eBook collection by default categories and create new categories. Titles checked out through your Digital Library will appear with a clock symbol. Read Out Loud: Adobe Reader can read the book out loud if the feature is licensed / enabled for that title. This is a text-tospeech machine reader. Comments: Add comments, highlights, and stamps to your eBooks. To display the Commenting Tools, click on the ‘Comment and Markup’ button on the Tasks Toolbar (version 7.x). Embedded Clips: Adobe Reader plays video and audio content embedded in eBooks, such as clips of dialogue or sound effects (with appropriate hardware and software installed). When an Adobe eBook is due, it will automatically expire and be checked in. After an eBook has expired, it can no longer be opened. To check out an Adobe eBook again, first delete the title. For Adobe Reader (v.7.x): Right-click the thumbnail, and select ‘Remove’. Open Windows Explorer and go to My Documents > My Digital Editions. Delete any copies of the title saved in this folder. Adobe eBooks can be returned early. (See “Quick Tip” on this slide). When finished with the title it is okay to delete the title from the computer or device.
