Introduction into Eve University Official Eve University class syllabus © Eve University, 2008 Preface [The preface contains an explanation of the subject matter explained in this class: what it does for Eve, how it can affect a player’s options and possibilities within the game, etcetera. It does not explain how it is done, that is what the rest of the document. Rather, this should aim to illustrate how this subject fits into the game, and the New Eden virtual environment.] 2|Introduction into Eve University © Eve University, 2008 Table of Contents Preface .......................................................................................................................................................... 2 Class information .......................................................................................................................................... 4 General informaton .................................................................................................................................. 4 Notes for the teacher ................................................................................................................................ 4 Class contents ............................................................................................................................................... 5 Introduction .............................................................................................................................................. 5 History of Eve University ........................................................................................................................... 5 Who’s Who in the Zoo .............................................................................................................................. 5 Key University Applications, Systems and Websites ................................................................................ 6 Classes, Training and the Calendar ........................................................................................................... 6 Hangars, Ships, Modules and Skillbooks ................................................................................................... 7 Rules and Policies ...................................................................................................................................... 7 Chat Channels ........................................................................................................................................... 8 Mailing Lists .............................................................................................................................................. 8 Titles .......................................................................................................................................................... 8 Medical Clones, Jump Clones.................................................................................................................... 9 HQ ........................................................................................................................................................... 10 Refining, Research, Production ............................................................................................................... 10 War.......................................................................................................................................................... 10 Politics ..................................................................................................................................................... 11 Licensing...................................................................................................................................................... 12 3|Introduction into Eve University © Eve University, 2008 Class information This chapter contains the standard information of this class pertaining to scheduling and class contents. It will cover lots of stuff, including what the uni gives you (skillbooks, modules), what chat channels we use, who the important people are, what classes you can take and what we do during war. And just to balance things, it will cover what NOT to do. This class won’t necessarily give full details on every topic (we’ll try) but at the very least will let you know where to look. History of Eve University A lecture on this can be found in the me?dia archive. An alternate link to the lecture is here. Formed March 2004 Various Wars (HUFF) Formed/Joined TBB November 2005 (NAGA, Eve University, Four Horsemen, later Royal Navy Fleet and Logistics and others) – Killboard: http://blue.griefwatch.net/ o Jan 2006 - Constructed ‘Blue Pill’ outpost in BWF/ZZ o June 2006 - MC War (caused largely by NAGA capital shipyard and mothership sale/production) o August 2006 - Left TBB, essentially dissolving alliance o Blue Pill has changed hands a number of times since, currently with TCF Ivy League alliance formed (including LOLS) (Sep 2006) Other (more recent) notable wars: o Racketeers (Sep 2007) o Privateers (April – July 2008, two wars) o Haiduken o ABP Who’s Who in the Zoo Link of current staff can be found here. Your in game email. Super critical. Contains a lot of emails covering important topics. The ones you should read , all from the ‘Unversity Voice’ user are: o New Member Homework o Teamspeak/Forum Registration o Mentor Program Website (http://www.eve-ivy.com) contains a number of resources including o News (which appears in RP format on the front page) o Important documents like policies, code of conduct o Links to various eve resources and website o Staff list o The ingame version of the website contains the corp DEFCON level. More about that later. Forums (http://www.eve-ivy.com/forum) o Huge amounts of information here. Start with the consolidated information post. o Search works. Please use it. o PM system – directors get a LOT of eve mail. Often it’s easier to get their attention sending a PM through the forums. o Calendar – drop down this week. Times almost always GMT (eve time). Good to respond to the thread and sign up to indicate numbers/interest. o Hi and Bye Forum – Post here as part of getting Freshman title. o Ship Setups – combine with search. Better alternative to Eve-O forums. Generally good setups and lots that are intended for lower SPs. Very high SP/T2/Faction setups at scrapheap challenge. o Work Fair – when you’re ready to move on this can be a good place to start. Killboard (http://ivy.griefwatch.net) o Kills and losses posted here. Password to post a loss (please post your PVP losses) is killer. Classes, Training and the Calendar University events and classes are almost always posted in the Forums on the Calendar. http://www.eve-ivy.com/forum/calendar.php 6|Introduction into Eve University © Eve University, 2008 Events will include the date and time. This will almost always be Eve Time (GMT) so remember to convert events to your timezone. Hangars, Ships, Modules and Skillbooks EU maintains programs to assist new players. Modules and skillbooks are stored in the corp hangars in the HQ station (Korsiki VII SAK). Hangars – are divided by member level (Freshman, Student). You must have the freshman title to access the hangars. If you’re new and don’t have it yet, ask in corp chat, someone can usually get you what you need or buy it using the ‘skillbook wallet’, which students can access. The hangars are also divided and sorted into containers by type so you’ll find ammo in a different container to low-slot armor modules. Modules are kept in locked stacks. It’s critical that you re-lock a stack when you take something. Audit logs capture when something is unlocked. If you don’t re-lock we can’t tell who did what and you will be warned. Once. Donations go to the ‘Sorting Hangar’. You won’t be able to see contents, but you can just drag stuff onto it and it will get to the right people. Forum Link Ship Replacement Available for war and EU operation losses of Frigates, Destroyers and Cruisers Rules and Policies Policies Forum Policies Sticky Code of Conduct Standard Wartime Procedures We do not pirate or grief We do not scam or steal o That goes double for EUni students and staff. We have some noobs, that’s our business. Don’t prey on them. We don’t talk smack. Especially no talk in local during fleet ops. Generally, just don’t be an ass. A lot of the policies are related to the fact that we’re a neutral training entity. Causing a diplomatic incident is not appreciated by anyone and creates lots of work and headaches. 7|Introduction into Eve University © Eve University, 2008 Chat Channels Alliance – Intended for announcements and fleet or event signup. Keep general chatter out of this channel. Corp – General discussion channel. No swearing or ‘adult’ discussions, which go into… EU 18+ - Take all the dirty, nasty stuff here. EU <faction> space – Discussion for people based out of regions other than the forge. So EU Amarr Space, EU Minmatar Space, etc Uni Mining – Channel for mining discussion EU Missions – Channel for mission discussion and for creating fleets for sharing standing gains Eve University – Eve Uni public channel. Good place to meet ex-Uni students who have moved on to prominent and not so prominent corps and alliances. Euni Class – Classroom chat channel EUNI Market – Trading and market channel Mailing Lists EU Titles – Mailing list for requesting freshman/student title ILN Ships – Wartime ship replacements. Forum Sticky IVY Intel – Wartime intel, usually war target names for adding to address book, typical ships flown, etc. Titles Freshman Title Requires: At least 3 weeks old with 1 week in E-UNI and introduction post made the 'Hi & Bye' section of the forums. Provides: Freshman hangar access. Student Title Requires: At least 6 weeks in E-UNI or associated corps, constructive posts to the forum. 8|Introduction into Eve University © Eve University, 2008 Provides: Access to both Freshman and Student hangars. Access to 'Skillbook' wallet. Graduate Title Requires: At least 12 weeks in E-UNI or associated corps while demonstrating a significant understanding of mechanics and exemplifying the Uni spirit by assisting fellow members. Provides: As Student, but also with Graduate hangar Research & Production access. Optional 'Graduate' Medal. To claim your title, join the new 'EU TITLES' maling list, and post at least one example of you fulfilling the requirements for Freshman and Student, or three in the case of Graduate. Note that for those returning from another corp, you can move directly to the appropriate title. Medical Clones, Jump Clones This is your ‘backup body’ that you return to when your active clone is killed (podded). The medical clone ha a location and a skill point level. The skill point level always needs to be above your current skill points. When you are podded, your first task should be to update your medical clone to ensure you don’t lose skill points. A jump clone is a ‘separate body’ that you can transfer yourself to. This works immediately no matter where you currently are and where your jump clone is. Once you have a jump clone, think of it as having two bodies, each of them in a different location that you can switch between once per day. Each of them has it’s own set of implants, meaning that a lot of people keep an implant-free jump clone at Korsiki for wars. Note that each jump clone must have it’s own medical backup clone. You need to keep them up to date on both (or however many you have) clones. To get a Jump Clone, you need standings of 8 with a corp. Eve Uni has that so the process of getting one is: 1. Train the Infomorph Psycology skill. (Science group) 2. Travel to either: a. Akonoinen - VI - WPC Logistics Support b. Isikano - IX - Moon 11 - WPC Logistics Support c. Erenta - V - WPC Logistics Support d. Khanid Prime - V - Moon 1 Khanid Innovation Factory 3. DO NOT ask any of the agents for a mission. 9|Introduction into Eve University © Eve University, 2008 4. Open the Medical Interface and purchase a Jump Clone. 5. Travel somewhere else, then jump back to the new clone. 7. The old body is now a jumpclone. 8. Repeat after 24 hours. HQ HQ is Korsiki VII SAK in the Forge, which is a good location for industrialists and caldari mission runners. It’s also quite close to Jita, lowsec and 0.0. Mission running sticky Link to hauling info <Hauling Discussion> Refining, Research, Production The POS has 30 'Material Research' (ME) and 30 'Time Efficency' slots (PE) available. The cost is currently 6,000 ISK per hour with no install cost, however please do not use more than 4 slots each, and limit all research to no more than 14 days or one research level, whichever is higher. Full details on using the POS are here: Sticky Remember: Under no circumstances should you ever deliver any research jobs yourself. We have a full audit trial of who does what, and deliverying jobs must be left to the appropriate people. There are quite a few folks in Eve Uni who have perfect refine. Ask in corp chat, there will almost always be someone out there who can help. War Announced through CONCORD eve mail “<name> has declared war on” (24 hours notice) A war declaration will always followed up through a forum post and a change to the University DEFCON level. This will also usually be followed up with a post announcing policies and procedures for this war. This post (usually by Silentbrick) is the law. It overrides any other previous posts. It’s critical that you read it. Often there will be Teamspeak based war prepration classes. Subscribe to IVY Intel (war target lists). <RUSE> <JC/Move to Korsiki, not all at one station> 10 | I n t r o d u c t i o n i n t o E v e U n i v e r s i t y © Eve University, 2008 <Overview settings!> <Lockdown> <Jita> Tackling Skills to train for War: Electronics III Navigation II Propulsion Jamming I Afterburner I Recommended ? (diplomat: Irdalth Delrar) Neutrality is a big deal to us. Part of ensuring our neutrality is treating 0.0 space very carefully. Current policy of EU is that students are forbidden from 0.0 space unless authorised by a director. Silentbrick will occasionally run rampages or other events. Wait for those. This includes wormhole access. Please stay out of COAD and other forum Eve Uni threads.
