On-line tests must be taken during the time available. If something occurs with your browser while
you are taking the test contact me immediately about the situation.
On-campus tests will be taken in lecture during the week scheduled (see Tentative Schedule).
Please notify me as soon as you know that you will not be able to take a test at the scheduled time. I
may allow you to take the test at another time if I know in advance.
Everyone must take the final exam given during Finals week.
Absences, tardiness or leaving early cannot be made up.
Extra credit opportunities may be given out and only on a class-wide basis.
Be sure to check accuracy of grade entries for assignments, quizzes, homeworks, and tests
immediately and let me know if there is a problem.
ATTENDANCE
Attendance to all classes is important. I will take attendance at the beginning of each class and it is each
student’s responsibility to make sure he/she is recorded as present if they come to class late. Absence from
class without any contact with the instructor or completion of assignments or tests for more than two weeks
may subject the student to a final grade of F or Administrative Withdrawal (AW). This decision is up to the
instructor and may affect your financial aid status. The student remains responsible for all material,
assignments or schedule changes made during the class periods missed, and this information should be
obtained from the Tentative Schedule, the Blackboard class site or from classmates.
INSTITUTIONAL STATEMENT
Each student is responsible for being aware of the information contained in the TCC Catalog, the TCC
Student Policies and Resources Handbook and semester information listed in the Class Schedule. To
access this handbook, go into the Student Resources tab in Blackboard.
COURSE WITHDRAWAL
The deadline to withdraw from this course is Friday, April 12. To initiate Withdrawal (W) or change from
Credit to Audit, contact the instructor first, then contact the Counseling Office at any TCC campus. This
action may affect your Financial Aid status so make sure you are aware of the consequences before starting
this procdure. Students who stop participating in the course and fail to withdraw may be removed by the
instructor (AW) or will receive a final course grade of “F”, which may also have financial aid consequences
for the student. Students with a failing grade will not be considered for a change to INCOMPLETE.
COMMUNICATIONS
 Email communications: All TCC students receive a designated “Outlook 360” email address
(ex: elmer.godeny@tulsacc.edu ). All communications to you about TCC and course assignments
will be sent to your Outlook 360 email address; and you should use Outlook 360 email to send email
to, and receive email from, the instructor regarding this course.
 Syllabus or Tentative schedule changes: Occasionally, changes to the syllabus or class schedule may
be necessary. Students will be notified of any changes to the syllabus in class or on the Blackboard
class Announcements page.
LEARNING SUPPORT SERVICES
The Technology Learning Center’s Reading & Writing Services help students to build analytical reading,
solid research and effective writing skills and provide information on MLA, APA, or Chicago Manual styles.
TLC also offers Science and Math tutoring (preferably by appointment). Tutoring is free of charge to all
TCC students. Hours and contact information for the TLC computer lab and tutoring services can be found
through the TCC home page: Student Resources.

INCLEMENT WEATHER AND CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY
TCC rarely closes. If extreme weather conditions or emergency situations arise, TCC always gives
cancellation notices to radio and television stations. This information is also posted on the TCC website
(www.tulsacc.edu).
 I will announce any foreseen cancellation during class or on Blackboard, so keep current on class
information. If I need to cancel class for unexpected reasons, I will try to contact you via Blackboard
or e-mail and will notify the Science & Math Dept office. It is important that I have current contact
information, so be sure to check and enter the correct information on the TCC Blackboard website.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY OR MISCONDUCT
Academic dishonesty (cheating) is defined as the deception of others about one’s own work or about the
work of another. Academic dishonesty or misconduct is not condoned or tolerated at campuses within the
Tulsa Community College system. Tulsa Community College adopts a policy delegating certain forms of
authority for disciplinary action to the faculty. Such disciplinary actions delegated to the faculty include, but
are not limited to, the dismissal of disrespectful or disorderly students from classes. In the case of academic
dishonesty a faculty member may:
 Require the student to redo an assignment or test, or complete a substitute assignment or test;
 Record a "zero" for the assignment or test in question;
 Recommend to the student that the student withdraw from the class, or administratively withdraw the
student from the class;
 Record a grade of "F" for the student at the end of the semester.
 Faculty may request that disciplinary action be taken against a student at the administrative
level by submitting such request to the Dean of Student Services.
COMPUTER SERVICES ACCEPTABLE USE
Access to computing resources is a privilege granted to all TCC faculty, staff, and students. Use of TCC
computing resources is limited to purposes related to the College’s mission of education, research, and
community service. Student use of technology is governed by the “Computer Services Acceptable Use
Statements/Standards” found in the Student Policies and Resources Handbook (in Students Resources).
CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE
 Open and mutually respectful communication of varied opinions, beliefs, and perspectives during
classroom or online discussion encourages the free exchange of ideas that is essential to higher
learning and to the ability to learn from each other.
 It is your responsibility to come to class prepared. Take time beforehand to read assignments and
organize notes. Keep this Syllabus, Tentative Schedule, all notes, reports, tests and handouts
organized in a binder. This will facilitate study for tests and handing in assignments.
 Be sure to turn off all pagers and phones before entering any class. Use of any electronic device is
at the discretion of the instructor.
 Please let me know if you need special consideration because of a disability, have any special
medical condition, or if your medical condition changes during the semester (i.e. pregnancy,
medication, surgery, etc.)
CLASSROOM EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
For any emergency, the instructor will direct students. Students should not leave the classroom during an
emergency or call for emergency services unless asked to do so by the instructor.
ALARMS:
 When a continuous fire alarm sounds, the instructor will evacuate all students to a designated area
outside the building. Students should gather as a group so the instructor may account for all students.
Updated: 1/4/2013

Godeny – 25272
 When an intermittent tornado alarm sounds, the instructor will direct students toward designated
rooms in the lower, inside part of the building.
MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
 In a medical emergency, the instructor will remain in the classroom with the students. The
instructor will call for proper assistance or ask another student to do so.
STUDENTS SHOULD NOT ACT WITHOUT A REQUEST FROM THE INSTRUCTOR.
 At the beginning of the semester, the instructor should designate 2 or 3 students who will be
given more specific instructions on how to handle the situation if the instructor is the person with the
medical emergency.
EMERGENCIES OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
 Call West Campus Police at 918-595-8158 or stop by their office located next to the main
entrance of the Information Commons Building in the center of campus. Phones that connect directly
to Campus Police are located on light poles in the parking lots.
TOBACCO FREE COLLEGE
Tulsa Community College is a Tobacco Free college in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order
2012-01 and Title 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes, Section 1-1523 which prohibits smoking or the use of any
tobacco products in all public places, in any indoor workplace, and all vehicles owned by the State of
Oklahoma and all of its agencies and instrumentalities. This Order includes property leased, rented, or
owned by TCC including, but not limited to, all grounds, buildings, facilities, and parking lots. Tulsa
Community College’s policy includes a tobacco free environment on all campus and off-campus locations
conducting TCC credit or non-credit classes. The TCC Campus Police is responsible for ensuring
compliance with the Tobacco-Free Environment Policy. Violations of the policy may be addressed through
issuance of campus or state citations.
