Introduction
This tutorial teaches ten randomly selected vocabulary words designed for 4th graders as required standards
set by the state of Tennessee. The randomly selected vocabulary words are either reading terms, math
terms, or a mixture of both.
The terms are given along with examples and images when possible. At the end of the tutorial, there is
opportunity for interactive practice as well as formative assessment.

analogy- a statement that shows how two pairs of things are related
example: good is to bad as up is to down

possessive pronoun-a pronoun that shows belonging
examples: mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs, everybody's,
nobody's, and everyone's
acute angle & homonym
acute angle- an angle measuring less than 90 degrees

simile- a figure of speech that compares two like things by
using helping words such as like or as
example: She’s as pretty as a picture

quotation marks -the type of punctuation mark used around a quote to relay
exactly what was said or written
example: Ms. Watermelon said, “Please
don’t eat the rind.”
