Preface
The Allama Iqbal Open University is intend to offer 120 Academic programs from grass
root level to Doctoral degree in Spring and Autumn semesters 2014 under the Distance
Education System and in Formal mode. The Offering of AIOU Academic Programs for the year
2014 (Spring & Autumn semesters) contains semester-wise offering of all programs to be offered
by four Faculties i.e. Social Sciences & Humanities, Sciences, Education and Arabic & Islamic
Studies and BUESP. The compilation of offering scheme of AIOU Academic programs for every
year is the sole responsibility of Directorate of Academic Planning and Course Production.
In order to facilitate the students and further strengthening the operational activities, the
University has introduced six in General Groups/Cluster at Secondary School level, eight in
General Groups/Cluster at Higher Secondary School level and seven in General Groups/Cluster
at Bachelor level and three B.A groups i.e. B.A in Library and Information, B.Com and B.A
Mass Communication. In addition to this, the University has also introduced Associate Degrees
in the discipline of Commerce and Education.
The Offering of AIOU Academic Programs for the year 2014 (Spring & Autumn
semesters) will hopefully, facilitate all the Academic and Servicing departments for updating the
prospectus for new program’s admission advertisement and the preparation of course
assignments, print/reprint order of books and workshops and tutorial meetings schedule for each
semester i.e. Spring and Autumn 2014. It will also enable the Regional Campuses to provide
appropriate information and guidance to prospective students.

Abstract
The Allama Iqbal Open University is offering 120 educational programs from basic level
to Doctoral degree. These programs are being offered in Spring and Autumn 2014 semesters.
Distribution of programs for Spring and Autumn semesters has been made at graduate and
postgraduate level. However SSC, HSSC and Bachelor programs are being offered in both
semesters. Programs-wise detail of each faculty is as follows:-

It is worth mentioning here that most of the courses of general groups of Secondary
School Certificate, Higher Secondary School Certificate and Bachelor level programs are being
offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities and these treated as one program at each
level and recorded under the same Faculty.
In addition to the aforesaid programs, the University is planning to introduce new
programs in the near future.
