Artwork Guidelines for entry into the Melbourne International flower and Garden Show 2015
True Blue has been very successful at the show but after some feedback and discussions with the Flower Show organiser in 2013
and the other art societies we have compiled a list of guidelines to keep in mind for your artwork and entry into next years show.
 no commercially made stamps or printed serviettes/tissue papers are to be used in your artwork. These are copyrighted
and not your original work. You are welcome to carve or make your own stamps but no commercially made stamps or
serviettes/tissue papers please.
 mixed media is fine eg, the use of texture paste, plain tissue papers, or tissue papers you have embelished by hand, etc
if they are used in the background or as an element of the painting, not the focal point.
 all paintings are to be entirely original with artist created elements only. The design must be from your own photo or
idea, not taken from a website or book, whether copyright free or not. You can get inspiration from things you've seen
but it must not be recognizable as a copy.
 prices o we need to not be seen as the bargain basement art society of the exhibition. We have worked hard to build
our reputation in this exhibition and our pricing and artwork reflects on the reputation of the exhibition as a
whole.
o when pricing your painting, remember that the flower show takes commission and you need to cover your
costs of materials.
o Our reputation and your reputation is reflected by what we put up for sale so please keep that in mind when
pricing. check out this website and look for others to get a feel for the going prices
http://www.morningtonartshow.com.au/gallery/
o Further to that we have decided that the minimum price for any artwork is $75.00 and only a limited amount
of pieces under $100 will be accepted. This is to ensure that we are taken seriously by the flower show and
other art societies.
 please remember that this is a long established, fine art exhibition with a high reputation to be upheld and not a craft
market.
 If you have any questions please call Lee
As space will be limited by the Flower show management we may not be able to hang all of the paintings submitted.
