PRACTICUM EXPERIENCE
Planned and taught a grade 11 IB HL biology class, a grade 10 MYP science class
Science/Math
3 weeks
and a grade 9 MYP math and science class. Used analogies with quadratic
equations. Incorporated rich learning tasks (ie. prior knowledge assessment
activities, making slowmations with technology). Facilitated a design-your-own
investigation in electricity unit. Led a lab activity with the grade 9 MYP science
class. Assisted in 16-hour famine event in raising awareness against poverty.

class. Incorporated extensive use of Smartboard technology into everyday lessons.

accordingly. Executed three-part lesson plans with student-centred inquiry-based
learning (Gallery Walk, Jeopardy). Implemented the Ontario TIPS4ARM for grade
9 Applied math and embedded accommodations (word wall, vocabulary booklets,
added visuals) for ESL students.

approaches to support student learning and assessment (polling, videos, webactivities). Constructed assessments that emphasized metacognition (concept maps,
process-oriented-guided-inquiry-learning tailored worksheets, unit tests) and
provided constructive feedbacks. Worked one-on-one with reluctant learners.
Explored several learning strategies (more visuals, vocabulary booklet) with ESL
students (especially in biology unit).
