SMB Systems Administrator

Summary
We are a government-contracted Transportation Service Provider (TSP). We manage Permanent
Change of Station (PCS) moves for military members and military-employed civilians. Moves are
awarded to TSPs by the military, and the TSP assigns and manages the agents who survey, pack, haul,
store, and deliver the shipment. Our related companies also handle corporate, international, and residential
relocations.
Combined with our related companies, we have 3 full-time IT staff to support approximately 180 users.
We support a wide range of specialized software for day-to-day operations including time and
attendance, customer and shipment management, accounting, and logistics software. While the applicant would
be hired by Charter Transportation, s/he would also support all related companies as required.
The applicant will be responsible for provisioning, installing/configuring, operating, and maintaining systems
hardware and software, as well as its related infrastructure. The applicant will need to participate in technical
research and development to provide continual innovation and upgrades for supported infrastructure. The
applicant will lead and/or assist project teams and provide technical support and solutions for issues, and may
serve as a Subject Matter Expert for larger projects. The applicant will often take lead on implementing new
solutions, ensuring enough training is provided to users for a smooth transition.
This applicant is accountable for the following systems: Windows Server 2008 R2 - 2012; ESXi vSphere;
Exchange 2010 – 2013; Spiceworks helpdesk and inventory system; Cisco ASA and VOIP; Sage 100 ERP;
Windows 7 – 8.1 with Office 2010; proprietary line-of-business software; Responsibilities on these systems
include engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance, and research and development to
ensure continual innovation.
Primary responsibilities








Support and maintain current network and systems.
Lead and support projects to further business goals and address user needs.
Provide user support for desktops, phone systems, and the network.
Make recommendations for future system upgrades; put together project proposals and ROIs.
Coordinate service with external vendors.
Deploy and support new servers through vSphere.
Revise and enforce security and acceptable use policies.
Other projects and tasks as needed.
Requirements:












Minimum 1 year working in an IT capacity for SMB/corporate (2+ years preferred).
Strong written and oral communication skills – both technical and nontechnical.
Supporting and troubleshooting Windows 7 and 8.1, along with Office 2010.
Customer service skills – must be polite and personable with end users.
Ability to do quality research on issues and new solutions.
Excellent time management skills.
Self-motivated and driven to succeed.
Ability to work as part of a team, but also unsupervised on your own.
Ability to prioritize tasks, especially under pressure.
Understanding of basic networking concepts.
Ability to create documentation geared towards both users and technical staff.
Physically able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
Additional desired skills and knowledge
 SQL, Oracle, or other programming/database administration skills are a huge plus.
 Cisco CLI for switches and VLANs are a huge plus.
 Cisco Call Manager, Unity, Attendant Console.
 PowerShell.
 Sage 100 ERP management and administration.
 Crystal Reports.
 Network wiring and Cat6 termination.
 Barracuda appliance administration.
 PC image deployment and setup.
 IT certificates or related degrees are a plus.
