Russell Burrows 651 W Virginia Ann Dr. Azusa, CA 91702 (626) 833-8332 rburrows3641@gmail.com November 19, 2013 To Selection Committee, I am writing to express great interest and consideration for the Librarian position at the Latin American Bible Institute. As a graduate from the Masters of Library and Information Science program at San Jose State University, I have actively been searching for the most optimal opportunity for growth in the library field. While studying to become a teacher during my senior undergraduate year, I had the pleasure to experience being a library assistant, which in turn opened my eyes towards a new passion for my professional career. Now several years later, I have gained and combined the knowledge from my graduate studies with my diverse work background all in the pursuit of advancing my career as an information provider in the 21st century. With the honor that accompanies this position at LABI, I would like nothing more to fully invest myself in this opportunity to apply what I have learned in librarianship, such as my working knowledge and use of automated systems, circulation desk duties, and reference services. Coming from a diverse ethnic background and being the first in my family to graduate from college, I long to grow professionally in the challenges and enjoyments of being an information provider to the next generation of library patrons and information users. I understand that there may be no current opening at your library, and I also understand that you may already have a staff member or several staff members already in positions at your library. But as your university grows and expands, I would truly like to be included in any future career openings in your library. Thank you very much for your consideration.
