o Mentored two students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds who were
significantly behind grade-level. Met weekly for 14 weeks, implementing
different reading assessments with appreciable increases in student ability
noted by their classroom teacher.
Science Fair/International Tutor/Mentor (NVSF)
o Mentored two middle school students from Athens, Greece as they prepared
for their school’s Science Fair. Focusing on the effects of music on the
human heart rate. Met bi-weekly through an online discussion forum for
approximately 10 weeks.
Georgia DOE: Reading First Conference – Athens, Georgia
o Concentrated on strategies and activities for teaching the Big Five
for grades K-5: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary,
comprehension, and fluency.
