Univ of Missouri Mini Med Program:
Criteria: essay question response, academic effort and success, extracurricular activity
participation in high school and community, high school science teacher’s
recommendation. ACT scores and GPA also considered. The program includes:
Handson experience in anatomy, microbiology, and clinical skills, introduction to MU’s innovative
patient-based learning (PBL) curriculum, and seminars on college and medical school entrance
and medical school life.
Selection criteria: while ACT scores and GPAs are considered, the selection committee is very
interested in the following:

Duke University Summer Workshops:

Duke University proudly begins accepting applications TODAY, December 2, for
two exciting academic programs for high school students during the summer of
2014!

Duke’s four-week Summer College for High School Students program takes
place June 28 – July 25 and is designed to enhance your students’ readiness for
future admission to an undergraduate degree program at a selective and
prestigious university or college. Students currently in grades 10 & 11 will make
friends from all over the globe as they learn from the highly-trained, highlyintriguing faculty of Duke University and earn college credit.

For students currently in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 we offer a new three-week
program Duke Summer Academy for High School Students July 5 - 25. This
program is designed for personal enrichment and offers a two-part daytime course
in Global Citizenship and Leadership and an evening course with many exciting
options available. The classroom environment is intimate enough to gain the
individual attention you need to thrive, and the residential life is full of exciting
excursions and activities


Washington University Summer Experiences for High School Students:

High School Summer Scholars Program: June 8-July 12, or July 13-Aug 15; Be a
current high school sophomore or junior; have an academic average of B+ or
better; have one of the following: a combined SAT score of at least 1800, combined
PSAT of 180, or an ACT or PLAN composite score of at least 25; international
applicants must have an internet based TOEFL score of at least 90, or an IELTS
score of at least 7. Application forms and letters of recommendation included as

Univ of Nebraska Architecture Workshop:

Students who may be contemplating a degree or career in Architecture, Landscape
Architecture, or Interior Design, but want more information on those professions,
this summer workshop may offer them more insight.




Summer Workshop June 8 - June 14, 2014
This workshop, developed for high school students, provides:
A unique experience to investigate issues surrounding design and learn more
about the design professions of architecture, landscape architecture and
interior design.
2. Learning opportunities in the form of design studio explorations, seminars and
discussions, field trips and video presentations.
3. The central focus of the workshop is a design studio where design issues are
explored and creative energies are nurtured.
4. As part of the workshop students will visit professional offices, learn about
various career opportunities, and develop fundamental skills necessary for the
study of design.

Students who have completed two or more years of their high school
education and have an interest in architecture, landscape architecture or
interior design are encouraged to apply. You do not need courses in art or
drafting in order to participate. Applicants will be selected on the basis of a review
of materials submitted with the application procedure. We have reserved space for
36 students in the workshop.
 The fee for the workshop is $585 per participant.
This includes studio supplies, program fees, meals and lodging. Students participating in
this residential program are supervised overnight while in the residence hall by College of
Architecture staff.

Each applicant must completely fill out the application form and provide two
recommendations on the provided form from persons (other than family
members) familiar with the applicant’s academic and creative ability.

In addition, each applicant is to submit a 500 word essay which describes why
you are interested in architecture, landscape architecture and/or interior design
and why you wish to attend the workshop. Please be specific.

Missouri Cadet Patrol Academy:
 June 1-June 6; must be age 16-18 with “C” average; male or female

Academy for students interested in law enforcement, in particular about the
training for MO Highway patrol candidates

Must be in excellent physical condition and be able to participate in a rigorous
physical program, have MO driver’s license, and furnish own transportation to the

Washburn University Summer Pre-Law Camp:
$150 fee. For high school students
and incoming college freshmen June 22-25, 2014. The camp offers an enriching,
educational, and fun opportunity for participants to learn about the study of
law. Specific topics that are discussed during the camp include: How to apply for law
school, How to prepare for the LSAT, How to survive a pre-law and a legal education, An
overview of the legal rules of evidence, and An overview of intercollegiate Mock Trial. In an
effort to apply knowledge gained during the camp and to hone communication skills,
participants will also have the opportunity to prepare for and take part in an actual mock

Boys State: June 14-21 on campus of Univ of Central Missouri. The experience teaches about the
privileges and responsibilities of American citizenship as well as state and local governments, the
