Tom is currently employed by the University of Cincinnati as a Visiting Assistant Professor in their Organizational Leadership/Human Resource Management Program. A 1990 UC MALER graduate of with almost 30 years of experience, Thomas Mobley, SPHR is a respected expert in the HR field. As a Human Resource Consultant and University Professor he has demonstrated his ability to transfer knowledge and provide others with the tools they need to succeed. In Mobley Human Resource Consulting Tom has combined his corporate and teaching experience to create workshops and presentations that are both practical and effective. Last year he was honored to be recognized as one of three finalists for Miami University’s 2013/14 Distinguished Teaching Award. Tom’s broad background includes work with Fortune 100 firms, government agencies, start-ups, and international companies. His expertise has been sought out and included in articles in USA Today, CNBC, MSNBC, and Dow Jones’ MarketWatch. In addition to being part of the faculty at Miami University, Tom is a past State Council Director for the Ohio State Council of SHRM and has served on the SHRM Board of Director’s Membership Advisory Council Representative for SHRM’s North Central Region. In 2011, he co-founded GETDOT Cincy – a non-profit professional networking group which aids its members and has raised over $11,000 for local children’s charities. Tom received his SPHR Certification in 1991 and his “SPHR – Life Certification” in 1997. Over the last 20+ years he has taught HR Certification Preparation Courses and Classes for Ohio University, Miami University, The Great Cincinnati Human Resource Association, Sinclair College and others. Tom is VERY proud of his 9 students from his class last fall who achieved a 100% pass rate on the HRCI Certification Exam. He has taught graduate an under graduate HR related courses for the University of Cincinnati, DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School and Miami University’s Farmer School of Business. Some of the course taught include: Training & Development, Leadership, Negotiations, Compensation, Benefits, Human Resource Information Systems, Staffing, Employment Law, Labor Relations, Human Resource Management and Organization Behavior. He is excited to be returning to China in May of 2015 to teach Negotiation Courses for the International MBA and Graduate School for Dalian University of Technology (ranked in the top 10 for MBA programs in China) and presenting a lecture on Leading Through Change. While there last summer he taught a graduate HR course for international students, visited local businesses and gave two guest lectures on Emotional Intelligence and Overcoming Bias. Tom lives in Hamilton, OH with his wife and 3 children. He has coached their son’s First Lego League Team and has been recognized as an Outstand Mentor/Coach in local and regional competitions. Along with their youngest son Joel, he will be performing in Big the Musical this spring. In the fall, he and their daughter Cori will be presenting a session on Overcoming Selection Bias at the Ohio HR Conference in Sandusky, Ohio.
