Please note that the standard duration of the current WIAS fellowships is from May 1-July 31, 2016. Alternative start and end dates may be possible (please contact WIAS Director about it), but the latest possible start date for this call is June 20, 2016. Start dates later than June 20, 2016, will not be considered in this call. There will be another call later in 2016. Stays longer than 3 months (up to 9 months) may also be possible, but the fellowships are also in those cases limited to a total of £7,500. Please note that fellows are required to conduct research in-house at the University of Westminster during their fellowships and that distance fellowships are not possible. We therefore especially invite applications to the international research fellowships that undertake projects that are grounded in critical theories and critical research. Please outline your understanding of critical theories and critical research, what theoretical foundations your project has, what critical approaches and authors you follow in general, what the key theoretical categories of your fellowship project are, and how you apply these approaches to the study of social and digital media. The paper should be ready for publication at latest at the end of the fellowship. It should furthermore be the foundation for an article submitted to a peer-reviewed open access journal, for which the Westminster Institute for Advanced Studies is listed as the author’s institution.
