Division of Bioinformatics Department of Preventive Medicine Seminar Speaker Series Hosted by Dr. Benjamin Berman Presents JASON ERNST, PhD Assistant Professor UCLA Department of Biological Chemistry "Genome-wide interplay between chromatin states, transcription factor binding, and regulatory motifs across multiple human cell types" Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. McKibben Lecture Hall, Room 149 USC Health Sciences Campus (By Pappas Memorial Quad) Dr. Ernst received his doctoral degree from Carnegie Mellon University, School of Computer Science. He holds a PhD in Machine Learning since August 2008. The title of his thesis is, Computational Methods for Modeling and Analyzing Gene Regulation Dynamics, with a M.S in Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining. Dr. Ernst holds a B.S. from University of Maryland College Park in Computer Science, graduated with High Honors, Mathematics with Honors, and received a University Honors Program Citation. Dr. Ernst most recent research positions include: University of California, Los Angeles Assistant Professor at the Department of Biological Chemistry, since January 2012; Member of Faculty Committee for the Interdepartmental PhD Program in Bioinformatics; Member of Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Gene Regulation Program Area; Member of Eli & Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research at UCLA and Member of the Molecular Biology Institute.
