Lyrics

 She calls out to the man on the street

"Sir, can you help me?

It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep,

Is there somewhere you can tell me?"

He walks on, doesn't look back

He pretends he can't hear her

Starts to whistle as he crosses the street

Seems embarrassed to be there

Oh think twice , it's another day for

You and me in paradise

Oh think twice, it's just another day for you,

You and me in paradise

She calls out to the man on the street

He can see she's been crying

She's got blisters on the soles of her feet

Can't walk but she's trying

(song)

Oh think twice, it's another day for

You and me in paradise

Oh think twice, it's just another day for you,

You and me in paradise

Oh lord, is there nothing more

anybody can do

Oh lord, there must be something you can say

You can tell from the lines on her face

You can see that she's been there

Probably been moved on from every place

Cause she didn't fit in there

Oh think twice, it's another day for

You and me in paradise

Oh think twice, it's just another day for you,

You and me in paradise

Meaning 

Summary

 The summary of the song is about a

homeless

woman sitting down on a sidewalk asking passerby’s if they know of anywhere that she could sleep or get food. Everyone has their head up high and ignores the lady and her pleas for help. Phil Collins sings the song as if he were there witnessing this happen in real life.

Meaning

 In my opinion, the meaning of the song

“ Another Day in Paradise ” is quite clear.

It sends out a message of how we should be thankful to live under a roof, with clothes, and food. The song implies to think twice before you waste anything,

including food, money , clothes, etc. Our

everyday lives is a paradise

to the

poverty-stricken society

that burdens millions of people in America and all over the world

Historical Revelance

 This song was released by Phil Collins on the album “

…But Seriously

” in 1989.

Homelessness had become an important political topic to discuss prior to the release of the album. By the

1980’s the number of homeless people had grown and increased significantly in the United States and in other places.
