Variables and Expressions
 Be able to write a verbal expression for an algebraic expression and
vice versa. Remember the foldable we made in class that gives you
all the words that are used for the operations.
 Be able to evaluate an expression that has exponents
Order of Operations
 Know PEMDAS and the rules for what to do when you have
multiplication and division in the same problem (hint: how do we read?)
 Be able to solve problems using the order of operations
 Be able to evaluate expressions that contain variables when given the
values for the variables. Remember the order of operations still
has to be used.

Properties
 Be able to identify each property by matching it to its example. See chart
that we filled out in class as a reference and study aide.
Distributive Property
 Be able to use the distributive property to re-write problems to make
mental math easier.
 Be able to re-write problems using the distributive property, then simplify
the expression.
 Know what terms in a problem can be combined to simplify. What makes
terms like terms?
Equations
 Find a solution set, given a replacement set.
 Be able to solve very simple equations.
 Be able to solve real world problems that contain two variables.
