DIRECTIONS – PART 1
 I will assign you a quote (A , B, C, D, or E).
 With your group, read the quote and discuss the following.
Write your answers in your RAW book.
 1) What is the context of the quote? In other words… what was
happening in the chapter that is relevant to the quote? Where was
he, who else was there, what happened before / after?
 2) What does this quote reveal about Siddhartha’s character? For
example, has he changed? Is he still the same? Explain.
 3) What literary element(s) do you notice in the quote? Underline and
label it.
 4) How does the literary element connect to what you discussed for
question #2? How does it help convey those aspects of Siddhartha’s
character?
DIRECTIONS – PART 2
 Form a new group. Each person in your group analyzed a
dif ferent quote.
 Read each quote, A – E.
 Share your ideas from your earlier discussion with your first
group.
 Take notes for each quote. Do not copy word for word – jot
down ideas (you can use bullet points).
