Forensics Calendar November 17th – December 3rd Fun Stuff: Question: How many forensic pathologists are there in the United States? Answer: Around 1,000 are board certified, of which less than 400 practice their calling; or thereabouts. As of 2003, there were 989 board certified forensic pathologists in the United States. Only about 600 appear to be active practitioners, however, and less than 400 function as fulltime dedicated forensic pathologists working within and/or directing statutorily constituted medicolegal death investigation systems. Current estimates are that America needs a workforce of at least 800 full-time board certified forensic pathologists to maintain medicolegal autopsy loads at acceptable levels.
