Partner Practice • With a partner, sign sentences comparing two of your friends, siblings, or preferences using these topics: • Names • Number of siblings • Likes/preferences • Mode of transportation • Educational status • Color of car Negation Grammar using Negation Negation Sign: Grammar: NOT To form a negative statement, use the sign NOT. Be sure to maintain a negative headshake throughout the statement. NO To answer a yes/no question, use the sign NO. This should be followed either by a negative statement or a statement that gives correct information. NONE In English you can use the word “no” to negate different kinds of statements. In ASL, to say you don’t have something, there is none to something doesn’t exist, use the sign NONE to form the negative statement.
