Fractions, Decimals, and
Percents
Who cleared off the most land?
• Let the 10x10 grid
represent the total
amount of land that
each person was
supposed to clear in a
day. The fractions,
decimals, and

Types of Decimals
• Terminating Decimal = a decimal, such as
1/2 = 0.5, for which the division operation
results in a remainder of 0.
• Repeating Decimal = a decimal, such as
1/3 = 0.333333 or 0.3, which shows a
pattern of repeating digits.
How to Convert?
Decimal to Percent:
Percent to Decimal:
Decimal to Fraction:
Fraction to Decimal:
0.05 = 05% (or 5%)
0.254 = 25.4%
65% = 0.65
2% = 02% = 0.02
0.25 = 25/100 (then reduce)
0.06 = 6/100 (then reduce)
1.43 = 1 whole and 43/100
