- Students will be reading a scientific article and finding the main ideas and important
information.
- Students will be using the Frayer model to define 2 vocabulary words they do not
know.
- Students will read information on the cell organelles and answer comprehension
questions.
Writing Strategies:
- Students will have to write a paragraph explaining the author’s main idea, purpose, and
audience for the article we are reading.
- Students will write out answers to quiz questions in complete sentences.
- Students will be writing out answers to comprehension questions on cell organelle
readings.

- The students will complete an internet search on the cell organelles and what their
form and function are.
- Students will take a quiz afterwards to make sure they completed the web quest.
How will this lesson connect to the next day’s lesson?
Students are teaching themselves about the functions of the organelles, tomorrow
they will be learning about the location and structure.

They will then color a plant and animal cell.
- The students will complete a reading guide on cell organelles that goes right along
with the notes they will be taking tomorrow.

Students will be learning and reviewing about cell organelles.

The student will write a summary paragraph from the article. They will be sure to
include the audience and the purpose.

- The teacher will review the students over the function of the organelles to make
sure everyone is on the same page.
- The students will complete a review sheet.
- The teacher will go over the review sheet and review the students for the organelle
quiz next class.

The students will be reviewed for the quiz they are taking next class on cell
organelle function.
