
XenData software virtualizes the RAID, tape library
and off-line tapes, presenting them as a single
magnetic disk volume:

The contents of all managed LTO cartridges and the disk cache are virtualized in a file/folder
structure. This is available locally on the server as a drive letter or may be shared over the
network and accessed via CIFS/SMB or FTP

Files may be archived and restored directly from MAMs, automation, Windows Explorer, Finder,
etc.

May be accessed from Mac clients – the XenData archive is usually mounted via SMB. Archive
and restores may be performed via Finder, Final Cut Server, Sienna newsroom automation, etc.

It integrates seamlessly into the Avid environment and yet it provides

Interplay Access displays both
archived and online media.

To archive or retrieve, users simply
drag and drop media assets such as
clips and sequences.

By dragging and dropping to a restore
folder, media assets are moved to the
ISIS SAN where they appear online
automatically.

In addition to keeping metadata online
in the Interplay Production database,
the solution indexes archived content
and supports searching independently.

All archived files are catalogued by an
extended version of axle Video’s
browser based asset manager.

This makes the entire contents of the
archive searchable from any PC, Mac
or iPad connected via WiFi, supporting
users not connected to the production
workgroup.

About Harmonic MAS

Harmonic Media Application Server (MAS) provides management of content across the
Harmonic server and storage infrastructure. This includes Harmonic’s Spectrum,
MediaDeck and MediaGrid products. Now, the managed storage infrastructure may be
extended to include XenData LTO archive systems.

Powered by Harmonic MAS, Harmonic’s ProXplore is a web application which provides
content management across the Harmonic and XenData storage infrastructure.
ProXplore provides multisystem searches, content movement, and organization of
content based on physical or descriptive properties.
